TASK 2

Travelling has always been one of the most enriching and wonderful things I have
experienced. It has always been a true passion and one of my most favourite hobbies.
Travelling teaches you more than any book or university course ever can because real life
practical knowledge is greater than any form of theoretical knowledge. Each country has a
different culture to offer. Every journey I have been on never fails to teach me a particular
lesson or give me some valuable takeaway from the experience.

One of the most dynamic trips I have ever been on is the trip to the United States of
America in the 9th grade. The most exciting part of it was that it was a school trip which
meant that I would be travelling without my parents. My friends and I were truly excited for
what we considered a once in a lifetime opportunity. We had been talking, planning and
packing for months until the departure date finally arrived. We were prepared to have all
the fun we could before the daunting 10 th grade dawned upon us. The teachers gave us all
the necessary instructions and information and we were all set to go.

The flight was a rather long period of time. It was 14 hours of sleeplessness, turbulence,
uneasiness and discomfort. When we finally arrived at the New York airport, we were
relived to be put out of the misery of being in an aeroplane for a long period of time. Just as
we thought this, we realized that we had not yet reached our destination and we had to
catch another flight to Florida. This was a disappointing revelation, however we prepared
ourselves and boarded the flight only to find out that the flight would be delayed by 2 hours
due to an oncoming storm. It is at this moment that many of my friends started losing hope
and getting highly frustrated.

I tried to stay calm and lift the spirit of my fellow companions by distracting them with
movies, music, talking about school etc. I tried my best to not let them think about or be
afraid about being stuck in a flight, miles away from home and our parents. The two hours
passed with ease because I stayed calm and thought out a plan of action to keep others
around me comfortable and at ease.

This was a truly rewarding and complacent experience which showed me that under any
situation, no matter how much the pressure, the best option is to always stay calm and think
of a constructive way to deal with it. I was pleased with the way I acted and felt an
overwhelming sense of self-satisfaction.
