STATISTICAL TREATMENT

The data to be gathered in this study will be subjected to the following statistical treatments.

FOR THE DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE:
The frequency of each response will be determined on the number of the respondents who will check in
the particular item. The Demographic Profile of the respondents will be determined by using the formula
of percentage.

 P =  f/N  x 100

Where:
P = Percentage
f = Frequency
N = Total Number of Respondents

FOR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS #1 and #2:
The responses of the participants will be tabulated, tallied, and ranked using the following: Frequency
distribution, Percentage, Weighted Mean, and Average.

 P =  f/N  x 100

Where:
P = Percentage
f = Frequency
N = Total Number of Respondents

Weighted mean = Σwx/Σw

Where:
Σ = summation
w = the weights
x = the value

Where:
A = Arithmetic mean
n = number of values
ai= data set values

FOR SPECIFIC QUESTION #3:

Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient is used to measure linear association between two
variables. It will determine if there is a significance difference between the student nurses’ level of
academic self-efficacy and type of coping mechanisms when grouped according to sex and year level
using this formula:

Where:
r = correlation coefficient
x = values of the x-variable in the sample
i

x = mean of the values of the x-variable

y = values of the y-variable in the sample
i

y = mean of the values of the y-variable

Specific Questions:

1. What is the level of student nurses’ academic self-efficacy during online-based learning?
** ORDINAL

2. What type of coping mechanisms were used by student nurses during online-based learning?
** NOMINAL

3. Is there a significant difference between the student nurses’ level of academic self-efficacy and type of
coping mechanisms when grouped according to:
a. Sex
b. Year Level

FOR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS #1 and #2:

Chi-square test is used to compare
χ2 = ∑ (Oi – Ei)2 / Ei

Where:
Oi = observed value (actual value)
Ei = expected value

FOR SPECIFIC QUESTION #3:

Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient is used to measure linear association between two
variables. !t will determine if there is a significance difference between the student nurses’ level of
academic self-efficacy and type of coping mechanisms when grouped according to sex and year level
using this formula:

r=
∑ ( x i−x́ ) ( y i− ý )
√ ∑ ( xi− x́ ) ( yi − ý)2
Where:
r = correlation coefficient
xi = values of the x-variable in the sample
x́ = mean of the values of the x-variable
yi = values of the y-variable in the sample
ý = mean of the values of the y-variable
