Self Reflection
What is electricity and how is it formed?

Electricity is a type of energy that is used for cooking, heating, lighting our
homes, listening to music, charging a phone, iPad, computer etc. Electricity is
made by fuels; Fossil Fuels like coal, natural gas and oil. Nuclear fuels and also
wood, straw, and even rubbish.

Fossil fuels are created over thousands of years. For example coal was formed
in the time where men did not walk the earth yet and where huge forests and
swamps ruled the early earth. Plants absorbed energy from the sun and stored
this in their leaves. Some plants died and fell into one of these swamps then the
swamps “swallowed” these plants, over time more and more plants started
rotting making a thick layer. Then the surface of the earth changed, water and
dirt washed away or shifted the dirt and stopped the decaying process of these
plants. But of course, more plants grew and died too and fell, forming separate
layers. After millions of years many layers had formed, one on top of another.
The weight of the top layers created heat and pressure that then produced
chemical and physical changes in the plant layers which forced out oxygen and
left rich carbon deposits. In time what has once been plant has transformed into
coal that we burn to make electricity.

Nuclear Fuels
We usually burn fuels, to release their energy. But not Nuclear fuels. They
contain unstable atoms, and we split these to release energy.

Electricity
First, they boil water to create steam. The source that they burn to create heat
are either fossil fuels, Nuclear fuels or wood, straw and rubbish.
The jet of steam makes a turbine spin.
Next to the turbine is the generator. It contains the electromagnet, inside the coil
wire.
When the turbine spins, the electromagnet spins too. That gives electricity in the
wire.
Cables then carry the electricity into homes, schools, offices, factories etc.
Basic Statistics

Germany’s population is 82.67 million in 2016 but of course due to all the
refugees that have come to Germany there are many more.
Their average income was last recorded at 45551.51 US dollars.
The capital used to be Bonn but now is Berlin, Germany is surrounded by
Poland at the northern East , Czech Republic at the East , Austria at the
southern east , Switzerland at southern West , France at Sothern West ,
Luxemburg is at West , Belgium also at the West, The Netherlands at the
northern west ,Denmark at the very north.
Both the North and the Baltic sea are at the north of Germany, surrounding
Denmark, sadly no oceans are close to Germany.
Germany is not very flat but has quite a lot of mountains and hills, this is one of
the many beautiful features of Germany. Some of the highest mountains are The
Zugspitze, Hochwanner and Watzmann.
Geramany is also a MEDC.
