3. For the first two moving events, I was not really affected by it because I was not going
to school yet and not having to worry about meeting new people and making new
friends, however, when I did move to Brentwood, I was kind of nervous about being
someone who did not really quite fit in with other people since I was new around the
city, and I did not really know anyone, which led to me being reserved and shy for a
while. However, I felt a little more comfortable as time went on in middle school once I
made friends and got to know people there. When the San Bruno fire occurred, I was
watching it on the news and I thought that was scary to see since it was very massive
and homes were being burned. I asked my mom if one of our family members was safe
because they live in San Bruno and she told me they are safe in their home, but they
could see the flames and smell the smoke, but fortunately the fire was not coming
towards them. The first time I had ever changed schools, it was kind of bittersweet for
me, because I was attending a private school and the grade classes were quite small
compared to public schools. I was there for five years, and my classmates knew me all
too well and I knew them all too well, and it did a little more harm than good once I left
the school. It was not the same once I had left. When I was at the private school, I was
not as outgoing as some of my elementary classmates, but I was quite social with them
and I was comfortable saying things with them, and I kind of was more reserved than I
ever was once I changed schools.

4. I joined the middle school band when I first started going, which could be influenced
by heredity. My grandfather used to play the trombone, my mom and her siblings played
in a small band when they were young, and I played the clarinet all throughout middle
school. Even though I am not playing clarinet anymore, it was nice to see music in a
more broader sense as well as knowing unfamiliar terminology involving music.
Prompt 1
A personality trait that I inherited from my family is the idea of being respectful to one
another. My first social interactions were with my family, most notably my mother,
grandmother, aunts & uncles, godparents, and my cousins. They taught me well about
norms and family values and what is appropriate to do or say. They especially taught
me about boundaries and what not to cross when it comes to society as well as being
respectful to people, whether it is with people I know really well or with people I do not
know. Now in the present, my family hardly argues with one another and if we do, it is
mostly for jokes or small, lightheaded topics that are all usually forgotten if there is an
argument. Because of this, it is shocking to know if there is any drama going on in my
family or if, for example, someone cuts us out of their lives because we usually respect
each other. Like I said before, we know boundaries and we know what not to cross. My
family hardly talks about politics with each other, for example, since some of us do have
different views and if we do talk about politics, we usually talk about it at an appropriate
time and place with family members who have the same or similar views.

Prompt 2
A behavior that I developed from social interaction is getting comfortable with being
social with people once I get to know who they are and what their personality is like. I
am not that type of person who is very outgoing to anyone and everyone. When I join a
new peer group for example, I introduce myself and they introduce themselves to me; it
is normal human behavior for people to introduce themselves and what they are like to
people who they just met. Personally, if I was not in a peer group, whether it is in-
person, at school, or maybe online with people who I relate to personality-wise, I could
look at myself as being an outsider, or someone who doesn't like to socialize with
people, and fortunately, I am in a peer group, because I personally do not like to be
labeled as being a loner.
