Bumanglag, Aaron Sanchez, Kyean Sarmiento, Gianne Mae INTRODUCTION The name Ecclesiastes is a translation of the Hebrew word koheleth, which means “one who convenes an assembly” or simply a preacher. INTRODUCTION Ecclesiastes presents us a naturalistic vision of life-one that sees life through distinctively human eyes but ultimately recognizes the rule and reign of God in the world. This humanistic quality has made the book especially popular among younger audiences today, men and women who have seen more than their fair share of pain and instability in life but who still cling to their hope in God. INTRODUCTION The book of Ecclesiastes contains the thoughts of the Philosopher, a man who reflected deeply on how short and contradictory human life is, with its mysterious injustices and frustrations, and concluded that “life is useless”. He could not understand the ways of God, who controls human destiny. Yet, in spite of this, he advised people to work hard, and to enjoy the gifts of God as much and as long as they could. INTRODUCTION The Ecclesiastes 5:5 “Better not to promise at all than to make a promise and not keep it”. It’s better not to promise anything because it will lead you to a sin. According to Mark Twain, “Action speaks louder than Words.” It says that promises are not enough to judge a candidate; it should be done with action. WHAT MAKES UP A SOCIETY?
