INTRODUCTION
Background and Rationale of the Study (with Literature Review)
(Present an overview/background of the study. The background of the study shall establish the novelty of the
proposal by specifying or indicating the gap through literature review.)

Theoretical and Conceptual Framework

(A research problem should, where possible, be set within the framework of a theory. A “theory” is a collection of
interrelated law-like statements or hypotheses aimed at explaining a phenomenon. Provide some account of the
published literature, citing the leading articles, reports, or books that have treated relevant aspects of the problem.)

(The theoretical/conceptual framework and the resultant hypotheses will identify and name the important variables to
be studied. The researcher must identify the variables and define the variables or terms conceptually and
operationally.)

Research Questions and Hypothesi/es (for quantitative research)

(Problem statement provides a clear and concise description of the issues that need to be addressed - What is the
specific problem in that research area that you will address. A hypothesis is a conjectural, conditional (if-then)
statement linking two or more variables. Hypothesis grows out of theoretical or conceptual frameworks.)

Scope and Limitation of the Study

(For the scope, indicate what are the key areas/concerns covered by the study (i.e. specific variables, population,
specific sites, research designs, etc.). While, for the limitation, indicate the possible factors that may affect the
result/s of the study that are beyond the control of the researchers )

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Research Design
(Describes and justifies the design choice e.g. experimental, quasi- experimental, survey, case study,
phenomenology, ethnography, descriptive,, interpretative)

Research Respondents/Key Informants and Sampling Technique

(Researchers should specify the participants of the research and the type of sampling that is expected to be
employed and should describe the steps that will be taken to gain access and to solicit participation.)

Sources of Data/Instrumentation
University of San Agustin

EDUCATION GRADUATE PROGRAMS

(This section specifies the instrument that should be used to collect data and the procedures that will be followed.
Instruments can be borrowed from others or developed by the researcher. For quantitative studies, if researchers
develop their own questionnaire, it should be pilot tested and checked for content and face validity. If instruments
are borrowed, written permission must be sought for use. If possible, researchers should only use instruments that
are valid and reliable. Statements about validity and reliability must be included in the proposal.)

Data Collection Procedures

(This area describes how will the researchers reach out to the recruit participants/informants and the procedures on
how to send out questionnaires, and conduct semi-structured interviews with selected participants. This area also
entails the process how the researchers will transcribe/code interviews and clean survey data.)

Data Analysis Procedures (Quantitative and Qualitative analyses)

(The proposal must indicate how the researcher plans to analyze the data in order to generate answers to the
research question. It is helpful to think about analysis in relation to the empirical questions listed in the Research
Questions . Researchers should consider which elements of data are likely to address each of the empirical
questions and what they might do with the data to derive an answer.)

Ethical Consideration
(Details the ethical issues and corresponding measures to reduce the risks to human participants, laboratory
animals, and the environment.)
