Introduction

The Lambton County council wanted to develop a new airport hangar at Chris Hadfield

Airport. The purpose of developing this airport hangar is to increase the revenue, more land

for farmers to lease, improvement in aviation tourism promotion, to increase the number of

small planes that are using the airport and to update the original airport master plan.

Location of work

The location of the work is 1500 Airport Rd, Sarnia, ON N7W 1B6.

Scope of Work

The following are the scope of work for the development of the airport hangar:

 Investigate the site, geotechnical investigation, environmental engineering etc.

 Evaluation of the site proposed.

 Selection of the material that will be used.

 Develop the preliminary design i.e., architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural,

electrical and fire protection plans.

 Develop building designs such as blueprints, selecting building systems and

materials, security plans.

 Develop building design using AutoCAD.

 Develop the construction cost detailing the quantity of materials required, labour

cost, overruns for the project.

 Test the various systems of the building.

 Develop the project design schedule.


 Present the project design to the Lambton County council for the approval.

 Submit the project plans to regulatory agencies.

 Apply for the permit from local and state agencies.

 Develop a technical documentation set.

 Develop a training course document.

Project Budget

The project budget is around $2 million. This includes design cost, construction cost, testing

cost, jurisdiction fees for permits and miscellaneous cost.

Project Schedule

The project will be completed in 12 months.

 The site proposed for the hangar development gets clearance for further work.

 The project scope is clear to all the team members.

 All the project stakeholders are supportive.

 The building designs gets approved by the regulatory agencies.

 The team gets the permit on time to start their work.

 Enough funds are available to complete the project.
