LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
January 4, 2009

Very rarely do people in Medical profession like me come across a student

like Vijey Kumar K B, a student of BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING, SATHYABAMA UNIVERSITY. My
relationship with him started when he approached me for his project entitled SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL
ANALYSIS OF EPILEPSY. It focused on a technique to combine the Electroencephalograph (EEG) and
Optical Imaging data (which points the oxy-hemoglobin concentration of blood) to aid the diagnosis of
Epilepsy. It is one of the few external projects that we had approved to be carried out in our institution.

Being his project guide I was able to judge his dedication, commitment and
resourcefulness through out the duration of his project. His practical knowledge about the principle and
working of various medical equipments and components is impressive. He showed his scale of intelligence
through his creativity and imagination which ultimately helped shape the project. His ability to reason out
things and his analytical approach to any problematic situation made it possible for him to carry out the
project in a disciplined and systematic manner. This was especially true when we had the difficulty of finding
a way to obtain the needed optical imaging data. After making a detailed study of the functioning of Near
Infrared diodes, Vijey came up with a pilot model for NIRS.

He had also approached me for his industry oriented training which was
carried out in the same institution. He has a strong bond towards radiation physics. With his multitasking
ability, innovative thinking and systematic approach he differentiated himself from others. When it comes to
the matter of time management his strategy of viewing the problems in different ways, made him possible to
understand and apply the concepts quickly. Personally I feel he always stand one step ahead of others.

Vijey Kumar K.B can be identified as a person of initiative and always has
been a diligent, productive and active student, who has a firm desire for research oriented studies. I also
recommend his case strongly for tuition waiver, research assistantship, teaching assistantship and any form of
financial help to aid him in his true quest for knowledge.
