I have had an intensive exposure to the basic Sciences and Mathematics, which are essential for
any branch of engineering. On the engineering front, courses such as Computer Networks,
Network security and Programming, Database Management System, Data Structures and
algorithm and Software Engineering have given me rudimentary knowledge in the areas of my
interest. They have acted as a preparatory ground for my further aspirations. The course
structure, apart from ensuring that my basics are intact also exposed me to a good practical
training. I ended up securing a C.G.P.A. of 7.01, placing me within the top 15% of my
department.
I made it a point to transcend the curriculum by perusing journal articles as well as interacting
with professionals from various industries. The college programs like guest lectures, workshops
and symposiums provided cardinal opportunities for industry interactions and kept me updated
with the advancements in the technological domain. It is worth mentioning here that I have
attended a 3-day National workshop on Data Mining and Data Warehousing, which provided
ample opportunities to interact with research professors from the Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT). In addition, having done courses such as DB2 and TIVOLI and received the
prestigious International Business Machines (IBM) certification, I was able to get a hands-on
experience of the important tools involved in directory management. All this have instigated my
desire to pursue graduate studies along the lines of networking.
My brief stint as a trainee at HCL helped me to get a good understanding of basic networking
concepts such as the use of sockets for the monitoring of the network between a client and a
server and network diagnosis and management, thus reinforcing my inclination towards
networking. Determined to delve deeper into networking, I opted to do my senior year project
pertaining to Networks and Mobile Communication. My project is based on “Traffic
Monitoring, Tracking and Navigation using Virtual Trip Lines”. It establishes the usage of
Virual Trip Lines (geographic markers) to track and feed data such as speed and postion of a
vehicle into a back-end database, using languages such as JAVA and SQL. The most notable
feature of the project is that it does not track the exact position, thereby optimizing the user
privacy.
Throughout my school and college life, I have juggled various other activities along with
academics. I have been a sports enthusiast right from my childhood, with a strong proclivity
towards table tennis. I have participated and won several zonal, state-level and national-level
events. Having served as the core event organizer for the national level technical symposium
‘Protocol 14e’, I have had opportunities to hone my leadership skills. Apart From this as
community service is a key priority of mine, I have donated blood regularly and have
administrated several blood donation camps. As an active member of the Rotract club and Leo
club of my college, I been a part of several city-wide cleaning campaigns and tree-plantation
drives. This balanced approach of assimilating academic interests with the non-academic
interests has helped me ingrain the capabilities of time management, leadership, teamwork and
co-ordination while grooming me to develop an all-round personality. (copy L&T line from

I am convinced that your esteemed university, with its world-class faculty, state-of-the-art
facilities and pioneering research in a variety of areas is the most felicitous place for me to
accomplish my academic goals. I believe that I possess the motivation, intellectual ability and
preparation to set out on the exhilarating and onerous path of pursuing graduate studies and I am
sure that my aptitude and drive will see me through the challenge. W ith this in mind that I am
looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with you.
