COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course introduces basic concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics. Topics include
supply and demand, optimizing economic behavior, prices and wages, money, interest rates,
banking system, unemployment, inflation, taxes, government spending, and international trade.
Upon completion, students should be able to explain alternative solutions for economic
problems faced by private and government sectors. This course satisfies the Comprehensive
Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in social/behavioral sciences. This
course may meet the second SACS social/behavioral science requirement for AA, AS, AFA, AGE,
AAS, DIP, or CER degree programs.
PREREQUISITE: None
Students are to complete all work on the day it is required. In the event a student misses a
scheduled deadline, that student has one week to make up the missed work with an accepted
excuse. Late: -10 points for Notes, Graphs and Exams.
MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS FOR COURSE: Due Dates Weekly, Sunday midnight, on Course
Schedule and Announcements.

sections/learning outcomes of each chapter (chapters 1-18)
3. Micro Graph Project Exam (chapter 3)
4. Midterm Exam: Introduction to Economics with Microeconomics Supply & Demand, Firms,
and Markets (chapters 1-10)
5. Final Exam: Macroeconomics Economic Growth, Unemployment & Inflation, Aggregate
Demand & Supply, Fiscal & Monetary Policies, and International Trade (chapters 11-18)
Internet Students must complete Enrollment Verification and all weekly coursework on time for
attendance. Please officially withdraw if not attending.
