reading. People often skim when they have lots of material to read in a limited
amount of time. Some students will read the first and last paragraphs using
headings, summarizes and other organizers as they move down the page or
screen. Some might also read the title, subtitles, subheadings, and illustrations.
Other people consider reading the first sentence of each paragraph. Skimming
works well to find dates, names, and places. It might be used to review graphs,
tables, and charts. This technique is useful when you are seeking specific
information rather than reading for comprehension.
2. I learned that scanning is quickly reading a text to get the summary of it. It is a
technique wherein students search for keywords or ideas. Scanning involves
moving eyes quickly down the page seeking specific words and phrases.
Scanning is also used for the reader to find answers to questions. Once a
student scanned the document, they will go back and skim it.
3. I learned that extensive reading is an approach to language learning, including
foreign language learning, by means of a large amount of reading. The reader’s
view and review of unfamiliar words in a specific context will allow the reader to
infer the word’s meaning, to learn unknown words. Extensive Reading is the free
reading of books and other written material that is not too difficult for readers.
Extensive Reading is sometimes called Free Voluntary Reading.

popular especially among learners. Modern literary genres gain popularity due to
the advent of technologies such as internet and other virtual media which
become the major platforms of most of modern literary texts

graphic and flash fictions. Graphic fiction and flash fiction are two different genres of
modern literature.

2. Autographic forms are the marks of author’s handwriting which creates an impact
that the whole novel is a manuscript and thus provides a sense of intimacy.
- Graphic novels encourage interactivity in the minds of the reader as he fills
in the blanks image panels
- Filling in the blanks between image panels makes the reader imagine the
actions portrayed in the story.
- The language, syntax, and meaning of a graphic novel spring primarily
through the relationship between images than words.
- Graphic fiction combines book and screen

3. Brevity. Flash fiction presents the story with fewest words as possible.
- Complete plot. Flash fiction emphasizes the development of plot. It has a
beginning, middle, and ending of the story.
- Surprising ending. The successful hallmark of a flash fiction is its twist at
the end of the story

4. Graphic fiction or a graphic novel is a comic book narrative that is equivalent in

form and dimension to the prose novel (Campbell 200, 81). The pictures are
arranged in sequenced in image panels and dialogues are written in speech
bubbles. The illustrations allow the readers to imagine and experience the
characters and events in the story.

5. Flash fiction is imaginative literature of extreme brevity. It could range from a

Lesson Literary Genre on Creative

1 Multimedia Presentation

What’s In
1. An anecdote is a brief, revealing account of an individual person or an
incident: "a story with a point," such as to communicate an abstract idea about a
person, place, or thing through the concrete details of a short narrative or to
characterize by delineating a specific quirk or trait. Occasionally humorous,
anecdotes differ from jokes because their primary purpose is not simply to
provoke laughter but to reveal a truth more general than the brief tale itself.
2. Anecdotes and humorous pieces are not only jokes, but exquisite literary devices as
well. Their primary purpose is to stir up laughter, to disclose a truth in a general way, or
to describe a feature of a character in such a way that it becomes humorous, and at the
same time gives us a better understanding of the character.
3. I enjoy many genres of literature. My favorites are literary fiction and classics. I
also like thrillers (especially spy) and mystery. Others I enjoy are religious
literature and self-help. Historical fiction can be really good sometimes and I even
read YA at times.
4. MULTIMEDIA FORMATS USED FOR LITERARY TEXT:
Multimedia is a form of contesting the literary works in a sociable and interactive ways.
Here are the few samples:
 ANIMATION is a way creating a movement for drawn images.
 MOTION VIDEO- it is a form of making a display of a moving objects.
NAME: AZZIA M. LOPEZ

 DRAWING - is an artistic way of sketching an idea which uses wide

imaginations.
 GRAPHICS- it's a combination of arts, designs and illustration.
 STILL IMAGES- is a kind of single and not moving image.

Lesson Literary Adaptations with ICT Skills

2 Empowerment

What’s In
1. The short story is usually concerned with a single effect conveyed in only one or
a few significant episodes or scenes. The form encourages economy of setting,
concise narrative, and the omission of a complex plot; character is disclosed in
action and dramatic encounter but is seldom fully developed. Despite its relatively
limited scope, though, a short story is often judged by its ability to provide a
“complete” or satisfying treatment of its characters and subject.
2. A story has five basic but important elements. These five components are: the characters,
the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution. These essential elements keep the
story running smoothly and allow the action to develop in a logical way that the reader can
follow.
 CHARACTERS The characters are the individuals that the story is about. The author should
introduce the characters in the story with enough information that the reader can visualize
each person. This is achieved by providing detailed descriptions of a character’s physical
attributes and personality traits. Every story should have a main character. The main character
determines the way the plot will develop and is usually who will solve the problem the story
centers upon. However, the other characters are also very important because they supply
additional details, explanations, or actions. All characters should stay true to the author’s
descriptions throughout the story so that the reader can understand and believe the action that
is taking place—and perhaps even predict which character may do what next.
NAME: AZZIA M. LOPEZ
GRADE & SECTION: 11 STEM - INGENUITY
 SETTING The setting is the location of the action. An author should describe the environment
or surroundings of the story in such detail that the reader feels that he or she can picture the
scene. Unusual settings (such as a fantasy world) can be interesting, but everyday settings
can help a reader to better visualize the story and feel connected to the plot!
 PLOT The plot is the actual story around which the entire book is based. A plot should have a
very clear beginning, middle, and end—with all the necessary descriptions and suspense,
called exposition—so that the reader can make sense of the action and follow along from start
to finish.
 CONFLICT Every story has a conflict to solve. The plot is centered on this conflict and the
ways in which the characters attempt to resolve the problem. When the story’s action becomes
most exciting, right before the resolution, it is called the climax.
 RESOLUTION The solution to the problem is the way the action is resolved. For example,
Katie often resolves a conflict by finding a compromise for two fighting characters or helping fi
x any mistakes she made while witcheries into someone else. It is important that the resolution
fi t the rest of the story in tone and creativity and solve all parts of the conflict .
3. Nowadays, short stories have one certain benefit: they are short. And “short”
doesn't only mean the number of words or characters. It also means the fast
pace, the single-minded plot, and the concise form. Someone may say a short
story is a substitute for a novel.

I somehow been related to the flash fiction because my friend lost her pet dog few days from
now, and I know that she’s still have this kind of feeling of a broken hearted that keeps her so
bad, every time she miss.
How was your experience in assessing the short story? Were you able to capture the author’s
message? If yes, what was it? If not, what hindered you to capture the author’s message?
Explain your answer: Yes, I understand the authority message very well. It is the roaring sadness
that the owner has been feeling after she lose her pet. Everytime, every moment and in any
place she remembered her pet dog.
