Description (includes outstanding features):

The Kaamulan Ground, a nature park in the heart of Malaybalay City, the capital of Bukidnon Province in
Mindanao, serves as an activity area, a refuge for reminiscence, a picnic and an outdoor place for everyone
to enjoy. Bukidnon is surrounded by greenery because it is a landlocked province. The Kaamulan Grounds
host the majority of the activities during the Kaamulan Festival. The Kaamulan Nature Park hosts events
such as the Garden Show, Food Fest, Kaamulan Bazaar, Agri-fair, and Livestock Show. Concerts, amateur
boxing, and other crowd-drawing events are held in the park's gymnasium. Ethnic sports and other modern
sports, such as wall climbing, are also held on the ground. During normal days, it serves as a tourist
attraction as well as an exercise and relaxation area for individuals, lovers, and families. Noticeable are the
different houses of the tribes that lived in the region. It is a life-size replica of the real house, built by the
people that make the Kaamulan Grounds what they are. The Provincial Tourism Office is located here. One
can ask for more information about the different tourist attractions of the province here. The Provincial
Indigenous Office, where most of the tribes coordinate with the provincial government in terms of problems,
business, and harvest, among many other concerns, is also located here. Very visible are the rows of tall
trees as well as the pine trees that surround the Kaamulan Grounds, which makes it more refreshing to have
a breath of fresh air when you are jogging around the park or just simply sight-seeing. On typical days, it
serves as a tourist attraction as well as a place for individuals, lovers, and families to exercise and unwind.
The various dwellings of the tribes who resided in the area are noticeable. It's a life-size copy of the real
house built by the Kaamulan Grounds' creators. This is where the Provincial Tourism Office is located. More
information about the province's various tourist attractions can be obtained here. The Provincial Indigenous
Office is also located here, and it is where most of the tribes cooperate with the provincial government on
issues such as challenges, business, and harvest, among other things. The rows of tall trees, as well as the
pine trees that surround the Kaamulan, are very apparent. The landscape design, which includes labels for
the several tribes that reside in Bukidnon, is appealing enough to pique anyone's interest. The flowing waters
of the river can be seen in some places of the park, and many people linger there during the day to hear
both the flow of the water and the swish of the trees.

A Culture-Responsive Workbook

Cultural or historical significance:

The Kaamulan Grounds is one of Bukidnon's nature parks. It was created in honor of the
different tribes who live in the area. Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo,
Matigsalug, Tigwahanon, and Umayamnon are the names of these tribes. Many of these
ethnicities, which are found all across Mindanao, are considered "ancient Filipinos" in
terms of history and custom, which is why the Provincial Government praised these
tribes for their efforts to preserve their culture. Many "tulugans" call Kaamulan Grounds
"home" (sleeping places). At the Kaamulan Grounds, you'll also find the Folk Arts
Theater and the Bukidnon Tourism Office. The Kaamulan Grounds in Bukidnon, on the
other hand, are a tribute to Bukidnon's rich culture and unique blend of tribes, which
attracts both locals and tourists.

Vocabularies (local terms and meaning):

“Kaamulan” - came from the tribal word “amul” which signifies “gathering or to gather”. It is during
these gathering where the tribes people of Bukidnon celebrate something special, be it a ritual for
becoming a Datu, a wedding ceremony, a festival of thanksgiving, during harvest season, a
peace rite, or some/all of these put together. The Kaamulan is simply a gathering of smiles from
all of the people who live in the region with authenticity.

Balay Tulganan/tulugan – it simply means a house where you can sleep or a shelter.
