To the student
This is a basic grammar book for beginning to low-intermediate level students of
English. There are 106 units in the book and each unit is about a different point of
English grammar. There is a list of units at' the beginning of the book (Contents).
Do not study all the units in order from beginning to end. lt is better to choose the
units that you need to do. For example, if you have a problem with the present perfect
("have done" I "have been," etc.), usc the Index (at the back of the book) to find the
unit(s) you need to study (Units 14-18).
Each unit is two pages. The explanation is on the left-hand page and the exercises on
the right.

level.
The book is intended for beginners and false beginners (students who have some
familiarity with English). It could also be used by low-intermediate students who still
have particular problems with some basic grammar points, or who still make
gran\matical mistakes and need a book for reference and practice.
The explanations are addre1\sed to the student and, therefore, are as simple and as
short as possible. The vocabulary used in the examples and exercises has also been
restricted so that the book can be used at a beginning level.

waiting for Bill to come. hasn't come yet. ·
Yet = until now.

going to read it, but I haven't read it until now.)
" "Has it stopped raining yet?" "No, it's still raining."
