Introduction
Fast & Furious 6 is a 2013 American action movie which is a sequel to Fast
Five (2011) and the sixth installment in the Fast & Furious Saga starring Vin Diesel,
Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, and so on. Fast & Furious 6 premiered in London on
17 May 2013, the film received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for
the stunts and action sequences. Fast & Furious 6 is a story about Dom’s team who got
offered amnesty for their past crimes, Hobbs has Dominic and Brian reassemble their
crew to take down a team of mercenaries: Dominic unexpectedly gets sidetracked with
facing his presumed deceased girlfriend, Letty.

Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) summons Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to
London in order to take on a team of mercenary drivers who have caused havoc across
a dozen countries in this pedal-to-the-metal installment of the rubber-burning action
franchise. Having just earned a tidy $100 million for taking down a ruthless criminal
kingpin, Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) have decided to lie low for a while. Fugitives
from the law, they're constantly looking over their shoulders, no matter where they
travel. Meanwhile, the malevolent leader of an elusive criminal outfit (Luke Evans) has
incurred the wrath of Agent Hobbs, who has decided that the only way to shut them
down is to beat them on their own turf. Realizing that Dom knows the only drivers in
the world with the skills to get the job done, Agent Hobbs offers them all full pardons
if they will come to London, and get back behind the wheel. The closer the renegade
drivers get to the organization, however, the more apparent it becomes that Dom's
former lover Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) is not only still alive, but a key figure among
their ranks. Now, with their freedom finally within reach, Dom and the team reassemble
for their most dangerous mission to date.

In Fast & Furious 6, there are some ideologies that appeared or implemented
inside the movie. Based on dictionary of Merriam-Webster, ideology means a set of
ideas and beliefs of a group or political party. Basically, ideologies are some kind of
ideas, that is, belief systems. This paper is specifically explain the implemented
ideologies backed with data, the data itself are taken from the scenes inside the movie.

Content
Ideologies have differences between one and another or so called different type
of ideologies, inside this movie, author found that there are 4 ideologies namely
Feminism, Liberalism, Multiculturalism, and Hedonism. In this paper, author will
discuss about each Ideologies and explain it further.

a) Feminism

Feminism is the belief in full social, economic, and political equality for
women. Feminism strives for making visible and valuing the roles that diverse
women play in society, promoting the recognition of their human rights and
proposing other ways of thinking, inhabiting, and acting in the world. This
statement implied that women also wanted to be equal with men in many
aspects like how they think and act. There are some scenes in Fast & Furious 7,
these are few dialogues that shows the implementation of Feminism ideology :

Scene 1 30:48 – 30:51

Roman : “See man, when a woman start shooting at you, that’s

a clear sign to back the fuck off”

Scene 2 33:34

Letty : “That’s the guy I shot“

Scene 3 41:07 – 41:30 (Riley punching and kicking a man)

Gisele : “ You look like a man who likes it rough, my friend here
can give you heights of pain”

Based on these three scenes especially when Gisele and Riley was looking for
an information from a man and they got in a fight, Feminism was implemented in the
movie, women is equal as men where they bring their own gun and fight their own
fight. It was strengthened with the scenes where Letty shot Dom when they met, it is
an unusual activity for a woman to have a gun and take a shot.

b) Hedonism

Hedonism with its origins in Greek Philosophy is grounded in a

dynamic between both pleasure and pain, where it is argued that maximisation
of pleasure and minimisation of pain motivates behaviour (Bentham 1996;
Feldman 2004, Heathwood 2013; Jantzen et al. 2014; Moore 2013; O'Keefe,
2010; Rawls 2009, Singer, 2013). The word hedonism comes from the ancient
Greek for ‘pleasure’, in general, pleasure is understood broadly below, as
including or as included in all pleasant feeling or experience: contentment,
delight, ecstasy, elation, enjoyment, euphoria, exhilaration, exultation,
gladness, gratification, gratitude, joy, liking, love, relief, satisfaction,
Schadenfreude, tranquility, and so on. In simple terms, Hedonism means
pleasure and its ideology is to find pleasure and maximize it, usually it also
related to money since all the pleasure can be bought with it. In the movie, there
are few scenes which shows the implementation of this ideology as below :

Scene 1 10:32 – 10:42

Roman : “ We got a penthouse suite with an ocean view that’s
going to change your life. 150ft yacht with a helicopter pad, safe
to say, you’re about to have time of your lives “

Scene 2 12:32 – 12:37

Roman : “You know that casino I was telling you all about ? I
got some vouchers to the buffet“

These 2 scenes where Roman Pearce kind of gives pleasure and asks for
pleasure from the woman is clearly a sign of implementation of hedonism ideology.
When Roman Pearce gave them the vouchers to the buffet is also an action of hedonism
where he throws up money for them.

c) Liberalism

Liberalism is a political and economic doctrine that emphasizes

individual autonomy, equality of opportunity, and the protection of individual
rights (primarily to life, liberty, and property), originally against the state and
later against both the state and private economic actors, including businesses.
It is a new concept of contemporary democracy, Liberalism defines that each
person living is provided with right to life, freedom, and property. To be
simplified, Liberalism means everybody has the same right to give opinions, to
live, to buy things, that everybody have equal rights. Fast & Furious 6 also
implemented this ideology inside the movie, here are few of the dialogue or
scenes :

Scene 1 41:57 –

Hobbs : “So this is how you got this? By buying all of his cars?”

Scene 2 55:01 –
Brian : “Im the one that served her up to Braga, I am the one that
gets to make it right, let me make it right”

Dom : “Be careful”

In the first scenes, it shows that Tej buying cars and not just one car but up to 7
cars which can be assumed that he uses his rights to buy cars as much as he wanted. In
the next scenes where Brian volunteered to go to Jail just to save Letty, he uses his
rights to do this by himself, which is a clear sign of freedom of speech and action.
Therefore it can be said that Liberalism is also implemented in this movie.
.

Conclusion

As conclusion, there are 3 ideologies that can be proved exist in the Fast &
Furious 6 namely Feminism, Hedonism, and Liberalism. These ideologies blended into
one beautiful working society with its advantages and disadvantages. With feminism
women can be equal as men which makes them feel better and not oppressed, with
Hedonism people can maximize their pleasure and make their life more colorful, and
with Liberalism people can give their freedom of speech and rights to live freely.
