Introduction

Social distancing measures are essential for many infectious diseases that spreads through droplets,
contact, and fomites. According to World Health Organization (WHO), by following the strict social
distancing is one of the preventive measures for COVID-19. It is not easy to enforce social distance
particularly in a crowded region and people often not maintain sufficient distance with neighbors.
Driven by the need for energy-efficient and cost-effective social distancing monitoring, this paper
proposes Social Distance Monitoring Application (SDMA) mobile application-based monitoring,
which can predict the social distancing between two people assisted by mobile Bluetooth providing
by its exact location.

The social distance monitoring system steps is to predict the social distance: first is you have to both
download the app and next you should pair your devices using the app. The application can be
configured to calculate the distance is by pairing the Bluetooth of the app.

The Social Distance Monitoring Application steps is to predict the social distance by requiring the
both participants had installed already the said app and through pairing the both device using the app.
The application can be configured to calculate the distance is by pairing the Bluetooth of the app.

The application will demonstrates excellent accuracy on predicting the social distancing and alert the
user using beep sound or alert message.

User’s Description

This application is for everyone.

Individuals can use the app for free in groups to help them maintain social distance. Companies
or families can deploy the app along with other measures and help protect their employees
during Covid-19 and beyond. Using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), the app coupled with virus
testing, Contact Tracing, temperature checks, symptom tracking, sick-leave pay, and other
workforce protection measures (which companies are starting to implement), will all help
prevent the spread of the coronavirus and any future infections, help flatten the curve, and
protect people and workers.
We think there is a use case for employers, individuals, public health organizations, and
governments to use the app coupled with Contact Tracing efforts put out by offical health
organizations.

Contact tracing works to mitigate unknown transmission after people are infected it is reactive.
Social distancing is proactive, and may help with prevention.

Companies can then work to protect their teams while not sacrificing private personal data by
deploying a custom version of the app with the Teams feature. Our app is made with privacy first
in mind.

Statement of the Problem

People need to get back to work and schools eventually. MSU-NAAWAN workers continue to work
through the COVID-19 global pandemic that we now find ourselves in. We need them not to get sick
so our supply chain stays running and peoples' risk is minimized, and we can flatten the curve. We
started building a contact tracing app for the Workforce Protection, and pivoted recently to help
protect the MSU-NAAWAN faculty, staff and also the student for the upcoming face-to-face classes.
Contact tracing could easily be added on top of the social distancing features if necessary

2. Analyzing Requirements

 Functional Requirements

2.1 Active User Detection - App notifies users when another app user is close.

2.1.1 Four(4) levels of granularity

 “Good Distance” = Green
 “Warning” = Yellow
 “Danger” = Orange
 “Too Close” = Red
2.2 Alerts – Shows signal strength when other app user devices are detected.

2.3 History – App stores a local history of the alerts from coming close to other app user
devices. Displays date and time so that users can evaluate their social distancing
performance through time.

2.4 Pause Detection – user can turn off detection app when not in use.

2.5 Safe Teams – You can add users to your Safe Team using secure QR codes for each
handset if you feel very safe with them. This allows Faculty, Staff, and Students of
MSU-NAAWAN who safely socially distancing together to not receive notifications of
each other’s handset when they are together.

Qualities of the system

• It is essential for everyone.

7
• Promote social distancing because students would not physically interact with
the people for inquires
• Fast response
• Ability to meet user requirements
• Suggest Courses with corresponding score inputted

The application will provide the following Main features:

 Active User Detection - App notifies users when another app user is close. 4 levels of
granularity. "Good Distance"= green, "Warning"= yellow, "Danger" = Orange, "Too
Close"= Red
 Alerts - user and shows signal strength when other app user devices are detected.
 History - App stores a local history of the alerts from coming close to other app user
devices. Displays Date and Time so that users can evaluate their social distancing
performance through time.
 Pause Detection - user can turn off detection in app when not in use.
 Safe Teams - Add users to your 'Safe Team' using secure QR codes for each handset.
This allows families who are safely socially distancing together to not recieve
notifications of each others hansets when they are together, but out in public. E.G. A
Couple shopping together in a store where all shoppers have the app downloaded
and turned on.

Functions of the System

General objectives:
●To study the app measurements to be used in preventing the spread
of corona virus disease.
Specific Objectives:
●To determine the possible effects of the application in measuring
social distancing.
●To explain the format on how to use the application in measuring the
social distancing.
●To design and develop an application that will enable social
distancing can be measured using app measurements.
Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping space between yourself
and other people outside of your home. Limit close contact with others outside your
household in indoor and outdoor spaces. Since people can spread the virus before they
know they are sick, it is important to stay away from others when possible, even if you, or
they, have no symptoms.

Although it isn't accurate, this app has been created to help people remembering to keep
distance from each other. Very important aspect during periods of virus spreading.

The functioning is very simple: it starts to scan for other devices, relying on the scan
frequency you decided.
There are three frequency scan mode: MIN, MEDIUM and MAX.
Each one has a scan different period, from a minimum of 20 seconds to a maximum of 1
minute.
If it finds other smartphones within a radious of 2 meters, it will notify you to remember to
keep the distance with a notification.
