Getting Connected
Connection to a Carrier or NVOCC
Request a connection with a supported Carrier or NVOCC
To connect to an Ocean Carrier within the Ocean Carrier & NVOCC List, raise an eRequest for each Carrier and
NVOCC you wish to connect.

When raising the eRequest select the following criteria:

• Criticality: CR9 – Service Request

• Service: MSG – Messaging Configuration

Once the Service Request is raised, we will guide you through the registration process with WiseTech Global’s
eHub.

We utilize a combination of direct connections via multiple service providers in order to provide you with the
best possible Ocean Carrier coverage. For connection, some carriers need a recent Bill Of Lading, Booking or
Contract No, while others require a service provider’s account. When raising the Service Request please
indicate which branches and carriers you wish to connect with by providing the required information in this
form: Ocean Carrier Messaging Connection.

Request a connection with a Carrier or NVOCC that isn’t supported

To connect to an Ocean Carrier or NVOCC that is not listed on the Ocean Carrier & NVOCC List, raise an
eRequest with the following criteria:

• Criticality: CR7 – Estimate / Quote Request

• Menu Section: FOR – Forwarding

Important: be aware that connection to carriers not yet supported requires time to establish contact,
develop mapping, and complete testing.

carriers connected directly with WiseTech Global, please raise an eRequest.

Carriers connected directly with WiseTech Global include:

• ANL Container Line

• APL (American Presidents Line)
• Hapag-Lloyd (coming soon)
• HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine)
• CMA-CGM
• CNC Line (Cheng Lie Navigation)

• SM Lines
• YangMing Marine Transport.

NVOCCs connected directly with WiseTech Global are as follows:

• Carotrans
• CWT Globelink

To request connection, each carrier and NVOCC requires you to provide at least one reference number; such
as a recent Bill of Lading, Booking or Contract Number. Please provide a reference number for each Carrier or
NVOCC you wish to connect with.

In the electronic message, the Requester ID is determined by the Company and Branch of the login user who is
sending the message. Please provide the Company and Branch Code in the columns provided. Branch Codes
are found under Maintain > User Admin > Branches, next to each Branch name.

Address and contact details of each branch are also required so the carriers can identify you in their system

Form Contact: some carriers may wish to contact you for verification of connection. Please ensure the
contact you provide on the form is aware of the connection request.

Carrier and NVOCC set up – via service providers

For Carriers connected through service providers; for example, INTTRA, GT Nexus or CargoSmart, the set up
process differs for each:

Set up for INTTRA Carriers

INTTRA requires you to be registered with them independently in order to send electronic Booking Requests,
Shipping Instructions and VGM messages. If you have an existing INTTRA Alias, please let your WiseTech Global
representative know at the time of registering for Ocean Carrier messaging, so they can map your eHub ID
with your INTTRA Alias – refer to the I don’t have an INTTRA Alias, how do I register for one section below.

What is an INTTRA Alias? an INTTRA Alias or Requestor ID is an identification code for your company.
WiseTech Global maps the INTTRA Alias code to your company’s eHub Sender ID in eHub so that your
messages are sent successfully.

I don’t have an INTTRA Alias, how do I register for one?

• Go to http://www.inttra.com/, click on Log in to My INTTRA, and select Create an Account.
• Fill out the Registration Form as completely as possible, then click on Create Account.

Upon approval of registration, it is likely you will be asked to sign a contract with INTTRA, according to
approximate message volumes per Carrier. This is a commercial agreement between your company and
INTTRA.

Once your INTTRA account is set up, INTTRA will provide you with an INTTRA Account Number and an Alias,
which is required by WTG to send messages from Cargowise.

Each Carrier's connection time varies, so it may take some weeks before you are enabled.

I already have an INTTRA Account, how do I register it for eHub?

WTG needs your INTTRA Account details to finalize the registration of eHub at our end. Please raise a CR9
eRequest (or respond on an existing eRequest), with the following information:

• INTTRA Account number: this usually starts with an 8 or 9, and is six or seven digits long.
• INTTRA Alias: also known as a ‘Requestor ID’
• Company Name

If you are requesting set up for multiple Branches, please also provide the Company and Branch Code for
each INTTRA account number/Alias you have been issued by INTTRA. Branch Codes are found under
Maintain > User Admin> Branches, next to your Branch name.

Note: enter the required INTTRA details for each branch in the following form: Ocean Carrier Messaging
Connection.

Once your company has been set up, you will be advised by WiseTech Global that you can start sending
electronic messages to INTTRA.

Set up CargoSmart Carriers

To send a Booking Request, Shipping Instruction and/or eVGM to OOCL and COSCO, please raise an eRequest
per carrier. Carriers require a recent reference number, such as a recent Booking Number, or Bill of Lading
number, for each company you need a connection for.

In the electronic message, the Requester ID is determined by the Company and Branch of the login user who is
sending the message. Please provide each Company Code, Branch Code, Address and Contact in the columns
provided. Branch Codes are found under Maintain > User Admin > Branches, next to each Branch name.

Enter the required Reference Number, Branch and Contact Details in the following form: Ocean Carrier
Messaging Connection.

Upon request to CargoSmart, it is likely you will be asked to sign a contract with CargoSmart. This is a
commercial agreement between your company and CargoSmart.

Set up for GT Nexus Carriers

To send messages through GT Nexus, we require authorization via this Authorization Letter Template, which
must be completed on your company’s letterhead. Please raise a CR9 eRequest and attach the Authorization
Letter to the incident in order to proceed with the registration.

Carriers require you to provide a reference number, such as a recent Booking Number or Bill of Lading number
for each company you need a connection to.

In the electronic message, the Requester ID is determined by the Company and Branch of the login user who is
sending the message. Please provide each Company Code, Branch Code, Address and Contact in the columns
provided. Branch Codes are found under Maintain > User Admin > Branches, next to each Branch name.

Enter the required Reference Number and Branch in the following form: Ocean Carrier Messaging
Connection.

It is likely you will be asked to sign a contract with GT Nexus. This is a commercial agreement between
your company and GT Nexus.

Note: each Carrier's connection time varies, so it may take some weeks before you are enabled.

Configuration in Cargowise
This section details the configuration requirements within Cargowise to get started with Ocean Carrier
messaging.

Recording each Carrier’s SCAC

A Carrier Standard Alpha Code (SCAC), also known as the Carrier Code, is required for sending and receiving
Ocean Carrier messages.

Each Carrier and NVOCC’s SCAC must be recorded against their Organization profile record. This is done by
linking the Carrier’s Shipping Line Reference File to their Organization record. For step-by-step instructions on
how to do this, please refer to How-to record a SCAC or C1C code against a Carrier Organization record.

Staff and Resources

Contact Email Address
In the event that an Ocean Carrier needs to communicate with the message sender regarding specific message
details, an email address should be recorded against each login user’s staff record.

Within the Staff profile record, the Email Address is recorded within the Contact Numbers section, as shown
below:

For information on how to update a Staff record, refer to 1COR009.

Setting up Notifications
You can use Workflow to configure email notifications that are sent to nominated Staff based on Ocean Carrier
Messaging Events and Conditions.

There are many ways to set up Workflow to create the notifications that you require. For more information
refer to:

• How-To Set up Notifications and Trigger Actions for Ocean Carrier and Messaging Events
• 1PRO006 - How do I set up an Email Trigger Action in a Workflow Template?
• 1PRO022 – How do I use Event Reference Conditions in a Workflow Template?

Container ISO Codes

Container ISO codes are found within the Container Reference Files, under Maintain > Reference Files >
Containers.

ISO Container Types are mandatory for successfully sending messages to Carriers. You should ensure the ISO
codes entered are correct.

For more information on setting up of Containers, refer to the following learning unit: 1COR132 - How do
I create a Container?

Messaging ID Codes
Sender ID (eHub ID)
Your organization has a Sender ID by default. This is used to identify you as the sender of any Ocean Carrier
messages, both in WiseTech’s eHub and to the Carrier or Service Provider.

How-to – Set up Ocean Carrier Messaging | 8

© 2020 WiseTech Global 27 August 2020
The Sender ID in Cargowise is the same as your company’s eHub ID. No configuration is required to set up the
Sender ID, as it automatically exists. When you request connectivity with a Carrier, the Sender ID combines
with your Branch code to register you on WiseTech Global’s eHub.

Once registered on eHub, the Sender ID is automatically included in the message, for example:

When sending Ocean Carrier messages through Cargowise, they will be routed via eHub as
Shipping_Instruction. eHub will then decide who the Recipient is (for example; INTTRA, CargoSmart, GTN,
Easipass or direct Carrier), based on the Sender and SCAC setting.

When the DEX Event fires on the job, indicating the Ocean Carrier message was sent, the Sender ID is the
actual Sender ID, while the Recipient is always just ‘Shipping_Instruction’

How do I access and use Ocean Carrier Messaging?

Ocean Carrier Messaging is facilitated in your operations job via Form Builder architecture. This function
provides a ‘form view’ for validation, review, editing and submission of message data. Each of the Booking
Request (BR), Shipping Instruction (SI) and Verified Gross Container Weight Message (eVGM) are sent directly
from a form, within Cargo Wise.

Once the Form is submitted, Cargo Wise generates a Universal Shipment XML that is routed via eHub, and
mapped according to the Carrier, NVOCC or Service Provider’s requirements.

For more information on how to prepare and send each Ocean Carrier Message Type, refer to
Forwarding: Ocean Carrier Messaging.

Support: Press the F1 key from anywhere within Cargowise to raise an eRequest.
