How relevant and applicable were the course Being one of the beneficiaries in our division to be
contents in helping you enhance your part of the SEAMEO GURO21 Course as a
competencies as 21st Century teacher? scholar was indeed a great opportunity. The
course content is very relevant and applicable to
helping me improve my competencies as a 21st
century teacher. Because the course provides a
clear picture of what a 21st-century education
entails, and it also equipped teachers with 21st-
century knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant
changes in the educational system. As a result, as
a teacher, being engaged in all the above-
mentioned course contents keeps me up to date
and helps me discover different teaching
pedagogies appropriate for this evolving scenario
in the field of education. Additionally, our sharing
during the four sessions regarding the practices in
our respective schools was very significant. We
were given the opportunity to benchmark these
practices and also apply them in our designated
schools.
What significant learning insights did you gain The following are the significant learning insights
from the course? I gained from the course:
First, as a teacher in the 21st century, we should
be a risk-taker to continue learning and improving
ourselves for us to keep updated in addressing the
needs of our learners. Also, teachers should no
longer be seen as the knowledge providers but
rather as a mentor and facilitator of learning.
Second, today's learners can learn in a variety of
ways. Teachers, on the other hand, should assist
them in developing holistically into globally
competitive learners. Moreover, teachers must
help learners to become the best that they can be.
Lastly, always bear in mind that change is the
only permanent thing in this world. The
educational trend of today will no longer be the
same in the future. Thus, we should be life-long
learners to keep ourselves abreast of these
changes. Never stop learning, as the saying goes
“you cannot give what you do not have”, thus, as
a teacher it is a must to be equipped with
knowledge, skills, attitude, and values so that
these can also be developed to our learners.
What challenges or difficulties did you Being a mother of a grade 1 and kinder that are
experience during the course? also learning through modular and online classes
gave me a hard time to read the GURO21 modules
and to accomplish the requirements since I need
also to attend their needs. Furthermore, I find it
difficult to continue with the course because we
were bombarded with various school-related tasks
throughout the duration of the course. In addition,
unstable internet connection was also a problem
for me specially during the conduction of the
synchronous session via Zoom and even during
the asynchronous session through the IFLEX.
What areas related to 21st Century teaching and Because teaching in the twenty-first century
learning do you still need to improve on and necessitates equipped knowledge and skills in the
why? use of technology, or what they call "tech-savvy,"
I admit that I still have room to improve my skills
in the use of technology in the teaching-learning
process. It is especially important to be familiar
with the various applications, software, and
websites that are now being used to deliver
learning to students. As of now, I have limited
knowledge of how to use various online and
offline applications, software, and educational
websites, and I believe that improving my
knowledge and skills in this area will help to have
an efficient and effective teaching-learning
process. Likewise, there is also a need to improve
my classroom management, especially that we are
now in the new normal education.

What can you say about your overall Even if there are challenges and difficulties I have
experience (i.e. comment on chat, forum, encountered while taking up the course, still this
course requirements, FLT competency, and the experience is one of a kind. Taking the course and
online modality)? learning for free because all expenses were
covered by our division was a true privilege.
However, during the orientation, it made me think
not to continue the course after hearing all the
requirements and how the course would be
directed. But being a risk-taker and the idea that I
would pay some amount if I dropped out, that is
why I decided to continue with the course. Now I
don’t have any regrets in pursuing the course
since I learned a lot in a very flexible way. The
learning modality of the course, which was a
combination of modular and online, gave me an
opportunity to learn through my own effort by
reading the modules at my convenience, and with
the help of our FLT during the synchronous and
asynchronous sessions. Our FLT, in the person of
Sir Jules Meneses, is very competent and
knowledgeable about what he is teaching us. He is
approachable and always reminds us of the things
that we need to accomplish in the course. With
regard to the use of the IFLEX, specifically the
chat and forum, I enjoyed using it because, for
me, exchanging ideas through the chat and forum
was less stressful than in synchronous sessions via
ZOOM.
What are your other comments / suggestions I believe it would be better to have an additional
for improving the content coverage and future asynchronous session using the chat, for a total of
course deliveries? three chat sessions and two synchronous sessions.
The additional chat session will be used to
monitor and update learners on the requirements
that they must submit for them to be well guided.
