    Method:
    This is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of free metanephrine and normetanephrine
    in human plasma.
    As with all serological tests the results should be correlated with clinical and other laboratory findings before
    final diagnosis.

    Note:
    The in-vivo metanephrine release is influenced by several foods and drugs. Vitamin B, coffee and bananas,
    alpha-methyldopa, MAO and COMT inhibitors as well as medications related to hypertension can interfere
    with this assay and should be discontinued for at least 72 hours prior to specimen collection

    All tests should be interpreted by a physician and correlated clinically
