THE WORLD Villegas, Jerome Floyd S. H. E. 12 - D Ms. Kristienne Jane Sarto Weekly learning Diary QUARTER 2 – MODULE 1: WRITING A CLOSE ANALYSIS AND CRITICAL INTERPRETATION OF LITERARY TEXTS APPLYING A READING APPROACH What did I understand? I understand that this lesson talks about enhancing critical thinking and improving reading, which is to interpret literary texts by applying a reading approach. I understood how to comprehend the ideas of the literary works in an easier way, though there are some difficulties when it comes to understanding the accurate information of the literary works. The literary works of Chechnya by Anthony Marra, which are all about how the people of Chechnya were affected by the war. Sonja is an ethnic Russian and she trained in London and returned to her homeland during the war. Akhmed and Sonja had a deal: if she took the child, he would help her in the hospital as her helper. What did I understand? In the story, there are the characters' changing attitudes, or what we call "dynamics," because, as we know, war changes the personality or attitude of oneself if something bad happens. I relate it to real life. In addition, I understood the passage on equality by Maya Angelou. It is metaphoric, and I just thought about the poem because a large percentage of us experience inequalities, especially racial discrimination. What did I Realize? I've realized that with this lesson we will be able to improve our English comprehension and reading. It will benefit us as students by deepening our understanding of the things in the literary works. Realization about the unfairness of the world and the inequalities it throws at us. We fight against it, but not against people who are discriminated against. The fight through in a safe way, like what African American Maya Angelou did, to share with others what is really happening to the people who are abused, discriminated against, and stepping on their own rights while not valuing or respecting others. It is hard, but they are strong enough to fight for it in order to free themselves from being inside the cage of inequalities. What do I Want to Learn more? I do want to learn more about how to analyze more literary works and critique them more comprehensively. I want to learn more and understand a little about how I can enhance my reading when encountering metaphors because of the fact that you need to read it carefully in order to understand what the message of the passage is. I think for me, there is nothing more I want to learn besides how to criticize the reading materials. How will I Improve myself/ Community/ society/country/ World based on what I have Learned ? I will improve myself, my community, society, country, and world based on what I've learned in this lesson. I will read some works to enhance my reading in English. I will distinguish the passages from the reading materials. I will improve myself, and if there are any unfamiliar words, I will google them so that I can understand the context of their meaning. Since reading is important and analyzing every little thing in the reading materials will help us understand the meaning of the passage. I will read the books that I know that will help me widen my knowledge and mind on that subject. How can we make this an important and relevant part of ourselves and society today? The things I've learned today is this will become part of my mind, my life, and today's society. I will make this relevant to what I've understood in the lesson. Since I have read so some of those, I will read other reading materials so that I can share them with others. Reading will improve my comprehension and understanding of the situation as pandemics strike all of us at once. My knowledge of what I've learnt is that I will apply it in real life because of the fact that experience is the best guide for us. Like what the poem conveys, most people will be free. With that, I will spread the message to not look down on others. And as part of society, I will not be biased and I will equally treat others. Thank You! This is the end of my Presentation in reflection
