1)What, according to you, is the real reason for the Teachers inability to listen to Geeta?

Are
they really too busy to listen to students’ problems?“
NO SUCH THING AS TOO BUSY, BUSY IS A DECISION”•
Busy is what we tell people who are not very high on our priority list that’s the truth. • How
many times we have told someone ‘I am busy ‘‘I am sorry’ ‘I cant' and then ten minutes later
we are doing something else for someone else.
• Here the teacher says she is too busy, it means that she would rather be doing something
else or she consider more important work like She have to attend the faculty meeting, correct
paper scripts and enter marks in the grade sheet and to prepare for tomorrow’s lecture. So she
thought she would not have time to listen to the student.
• Or She would have been exhausted run happy with more commit mentor even tired of
meeting so many people.
• According to me, sometimes listening is enough. Listening to someone demonstrates
respect, shows you are willing to hear them.
• Remember you don’t need to find a solution for them or jump in with advice or put words in
their mouth. Listening is enough, I promise.
• Mainly, Listening is crucial to maintain productive relationships. “ Too often we
underestimate the power of a touch , a smile, a kind word , a listening ear, an honest
compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life
around”.
2)How would you evaluate yourself as a listener on the basis of the listening characteristics
described in this chapter?
I would evaluate myself as a good listener on the basis of following listening characteristics
• I would be attentive and relaxed
• I would focus on what is being said
• Try to understand the other person’s point of view
• Face the speaker and have eye contact
• Not to interrupt
• Ask questions only for understanding purposes
• Being open minded
• I would follow HURIER model of listening(Hearing Understanding Remembering
Interpreting Evaluating and Responding)
• I would give regular feedback “LISTEN THRICE. THINK TWICE. SPEAK
ONCE”.
