Nowadays, English education almost starts at the same time as learning a second language.

This is because awareness of the importance of learning English has increased and learning
English has become mandatory in the education system. It's like a bridge that connects
people, nations and countries. It’s a language of business, commerce, politics, sport, fashion,
culture and glamour. Without knowledge of English you won’t be able to find a good job and
reach success in your future career. I’d like to share my experience in learning English.

I have been learning English for fifteen years. My first experience of learning the English
language was challenging, demanding, interesting and satisfying. My education in English
began at home with my parents communicating with me in English. While my mother was a
housewife, my father was an engineer. Since my mother spent most of her time at home, I
was able to learn English language more from my mother. My father on the other hand, was
the sole breadwinner of our family. Nevertheless, whatever time he could muster from his
busy schedules, he devoted that to teach me the English language. This was indeed an
advantage for me as I was able to learn the English language from them through our
conversations and by listening to the words they spoke to me. Therefore, both my parents
were responsible for imparting the education of English language to me. Accordingly, I
consider it as a blessing to be born and raised in an English educated family.

Almost everyone knows that we should learn English well, but few people didn't know how
to learn English well. Marx sets a good example for us. He once said, "when a person learns a
foreign language, he must use it." In this way, he can use a few languages, as the saying goes,
"practice makes perfect". When I learn English, I read and speak more, listen to English from
time to time, and practice writing every day. Don't be shy and afraid to make mistakes. Only
in this way can we learn it well. It is true that the more I try to speak English, the more I will
naturally improve. Just by using the English language as much as possible, my fluency will
rapidly develop. I will also try to speak on the phone, write emails and letters, make lists,
read as much as possible.

Secondly, I take at least one hour a day to remember the words. The more words you
understand, the easier you can learn English well. The English sentences consist of many
single words, which are the basic components of English. Unless you could remember lots of
words and use them at the same time, you can’t understand English questions well enough
and give the right answer.
Thirdly, I will make contact with native English people. If you have friends who are
English then speak with them about as many different topics as possible. The more diverse
your subject matter, the wider the vocabulary you will develop. Try mixing with different
kinds of English people, those in different jobs and with diverse interests in order to expose
yourself to wider varieties of vocabulary, accents and language usage. Speak English
whenever you can in shops, parks, pubs and on the bus, seize your opportunity to
communicate.

Furthermore, writing a daily diary in English is another good way. You don’t need to put
too many words in one diary, but you should insist on this. I am sure that you can write a
beautiful composition after insisting on writing an English diary for one year.

In addition, I will find a good dictionary. A good quality dictionary is vital for every
language learner. To start with, you will find a dual language dictionary more useful, but as
you improve your skills, a dictionary will be much better for your development. This is
because it will help you learn synonyms in addition to finding the meaning of your chosen
word. There are many excellent dictionaries available, including light and portable electronic
dictionaries, such as those produced by language experts.

Besides that, listen to English radio, song lyrics and audio books. Listen all you can to
English language radio programmes, such as the discussions and stories on the radio. Song
lyrics are also an excellent way of learning English idioms, slang and colloquial expressions.
Audio books put English into context in an interesting way and can be especially effective
when used while reading the book yourself, letting you hear how the words are supposed to
be pronounced and listen to English music. Even listening to music while doing something
else can help a little for things like getting used to the natural rhythm and tone of English
speech, although the more time and attention you give to a song the more you will learn from
listening to it again in the future.

Moreover, watch English television or movies. Many films are in English and this is a great
place to start to listen to faster spoken sentences, colloquial expressions and accent varieties.
If the voices sound too fast, try using subtitles in English to help you follow the speech.
Last but not least, read newspapers. Read all the English text you can find. Newspapers are
a good way of reading lots of smaller articles if you do not feel ready to tackle a book. The
newspapers use more basic English vocabulary and sentence structures and will be easier to
read than broadsheet newspapers. I would like to outline some of the advantages of learning
English. Studying it will certainly improve your personality together with uplifting your
confidence. On top of that, even your professional life will get a boost. However, you will
face some hurdles like learning grammar and extending vocabulary.

In conclusion, everyone has one’s own experience learning English. I hope my experience
will help you to learn English. Although I am not good at English, I like it very much. No
matter how hard it is, I will never give up learning English.
