1
Non-return valves are frequently used to prevent water running back from
the pipe network into the water tank. They are also used to prevent water
hammer from the pipe network reaching the pump unit, thus protecting the 2
filter and preventing the mixing tank from overflowing. The flow direction is
indicated on the valve by an arrow. The most common types are disc,
Y-model and cone check valves.

Version 17.1
NR-010 non-return valve (1½” - 2”)
A.R.I.
For the smaller pipe diameters, the successful NR-010 line has a special
version in 1½” and 2”. This is a plastic, spring-loaded clapper check valve
with female screw thread connection. The NR-010 has a maximum pressure
of 10 bar. This non-return valve is easy to open on the upper side by
unscrewing the cover. This type promotes quiet closing and limits water
hammer.
This non-return valve has a completely free passage and hence low pressure loss, a particular benefit in intake
lines. Thanks to its special soft seals and an extra smooth sealing surface, this non-return valve closes even
with extremely low pressures.

NR-010 non-return valve (3” - 10”)
A.R.I.
The existing NR-010 Series with 3” and 4” non-return valves has been
extended to include a 6”, 8” and 10” version and is available in both 10 bar
and 16 bar versions.
The successor to the 2 previous NR-010 and NR-020 types is the new non-
return valve type: NR 010. This valve is a plastic, spring-loaded disc
check valve that is installed between bushes and flanges. The NR 010
is available in both 10 bar (blue arrow) and 16 bar (red arrow) versions.
This type promotes quiet closing and limits water hammer. This non-return valve has a completely free passage
and hence low pressure loss, a particular benefit in intake lines. Thanks to its special soft seals and an extra
smooth sealing surface, this non-return valve closes even with extremely low pressures. This valve is optionally
available with a position switch or suction strainer.
The valve is available both loose and preassembled between PVC flanges and bushes.

The GF non-return valve Type 561 is spring-loaded with cone or ball and
rubber seals. Thanks to its new design, this high-quality valve now has an
improved performance. The valve can be disassembled and has double
guides. With proper use, this non-return valve offers a lasting leak-free
connection. Type 561 are available in FPM and EPDM versions.

PVC VDL non-return valve
VDL
The VDL PVC non-return valve is spring-loaded with cone and has rubber
seals. The cone has guideways so that the cone is always in the right place;
these guideways also prevent the cone from rotating. As a result, this valve
is very stable during use. The VDL valve can be installed in any direction
and with proper use offers a lasting leak-free connection.

weight. The valve cannot be disconnected. This valve is available in larger

Brass non-return valve
York
The York brass non-return valve is an old and reliable player in the field.
This sturdy valve has a screw thread.
The valve can only be used in clean water installations and is not resistant

Positioning
• The MixRite can be installed in the main flow or in a by-pass if the available flow is higher than the
maximum permitted capacity.
• Avoid excessive resistance on the intake side (maximum intake height: ± 2.5 mwc).
• If the MixRite is installed in the by-pass, a possibility for reducing must be installed in the main flow such
that the resistance through the MixRite (with the desired capacity) is equal to the resistance through the
reducer in the main flow (note: maximum capacity by means of water meters).
Setting
• The intake capacity of the MixRite can be easily adjusted by turning the gland on the pump unit.
• After turning, the setting can be locked by means of a locking pin.
Maintenance
• If the MixRite is not used for a prolonged period, flush it well using clean water.
• The housing of the MixRite is impact-resistant (glassfibre-reinforced polyamide). Do not use a (chain)
wrench to loosen the cap.
• Proceed as follows to replace the seals: Remove the old seals using pliers, heat the new seals to be
installed in hot water, fit the seals and then apply silicone grease. Allow the drive unit to protrude slightly to
avoid damage to the seals during installation of the cap.

Venturi injectors
Mazzei
Injectors from Mazzei are high-quality injectors that inject liquid into a
flow on the basis of a pressure difference (venturi principle).
When a continuous liquid steam enters the injector under pressure,
it passes at high speed through a small opening into the injection chamber.
The increase in speed creates a vacuum so that the liquid to be admixed is
drawn in.

Combination air valve D-040, DG-10, DT-040
A.R.I.
The A.R.I. D-040 is a plastic combination air valve suitable for discharging
and admitting both small and large quantities of air. The air valve combines
a large opening (kinetic function) with a small opening (automatic function).
This combination ensures a self-cleaning effect (thus less clogging) and
prevents premature closing.
The DG-10 is the agricultural version of the D-040. It is designed for a lower
pressure and higher capacities. The DT-040 is a combination air valve with integral valve for smaller capacities.

Installation
• The pressure gauges must be preferably installed upright at points in the system where the pressure is
stable, i.e. not directly before or behind an elbow, T-piece, accessory, etc.

• In crop sections with a slope where the slope is larger than the closing pressure of the drippers, the DNLs
are installed in the drip irrigation hose so that the remaining slope is not more than the closing pressure of
the drippers (to prevent differences in delivery, only in pressure-compensated and closing drippers).
• If both the distribution pipe and the drip irrigation hose has a slope, position the DNL both behind the
distribution line and in the drip irrigation hose. Not more than 2 DNLs should be installed per drip irrigation
hose.
• When using DNLs, the minimum working pressure must be increased by the resistance of the DNLs.
Ensure that the minimum working pressure is always above the opening pressure of the DNL.
• If the DNL is used in non-pressure-compensated drippers behind the distribution line, this improves the
uniformity of the system. Allowance must be made for a slightly lower delivery behind the DNL
(the resistance over the DNL reduces the working pressure behind the DNL).
• The DNLs can be installed using Tavlit PP socket seals, Tavlit Nutlock couplers or Supreme compression
joints.

Pressure regulators
Netafim
The Netafim pressure regulators are simple, fixed pressure regulators for
drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation installations. If the water withdrawal
does not vary widely (for example in an irrigation set), the Netafim pressure
regulators are very suitable for reducing the working pressure.

Flushing valves
Amiad
The Amiad flushing valve is installed at the end of a drip irrigation hose
to discharge air more quickly and to prevent the possible accumulation
of contaminants at the end of the hose without flushing valves
or automation systems being necessary.
In pressure-free state, the valves are open and the water can drain
from the hose. As soon as the hose is pressurised, the valve closes
and drip irrigation is possible.
Characteristics
• Two types with different closing pressure: Closing at 3 or 5 mwc

Quick-Valve
The Quick-Valve is a small ebb and flow valve for fixed and mobile panels
that allows water to be easily supplied and quickly discharged.
The valve is designed with a separate drainage system that operates on
the syphon principle. Feed and discharge flows thus remain separate.
Characteristics
• Automatic oxidation of fertilisers during the filling of the ebb and flow
panels using the venturi effect of the syphon by which air is drawn in

HS Valve
The HS valve has been specially developed for the filling and draining of
ebb and flow panels. By contrast with the Quick-Valve, the feed and
discharge flows are combined (see working principle).
During filling, the water flows through a small hole in the internal cone,
reducing the water flow and the water level can gradually rise.
During discharge, the cone drops back into the valve, thus creating a
larger discharge opening.
The passage opening can be reamed to achieve a higher filling capacity. A larger feed/discharge hose should be
used to achieve a higher discharge capacity.

Syphon valve
The syphon valve drains the irrigation water from a roller container.
The drainage torque can be set by adjusting the head
of the syphon valve. If the head is in the highest position, the syphon
effect does not occur and the water remains in the panel.
If the head is completely removed, the water drains directly from the
panel. Filling of the roller container takes place via a separate inlet.

Application
• Behind pumps installed in parallel to prevent water flowing back when one or more pumps is not in use.
• Before the pump if several tanks are connected to one intake line, or of several intake lines and/or pumps
are connected together.
• Behind the pump to prevent systems from running dry. Particularly with pipes above ground, this prevents
air from entering the pipe and/or a vacuum being created.
• Behind the pump (e.g. SAF filter) to prevent damage caused by water hammer.
• Finally we find non-return valves also in automatic flushing systems where they replace electric valves.
