MODULE - SETTING YOUR FOUNDATIONS

Video - How to set realistic and achievable goals
Hey everybody and welcome back to this training video.
I hope that you enjoyed our first module about ketogenic nutrition and I’m sure you learned much
new things a noted down a lot. In this video, I will try to explain a bit more about our dietary habits
and what is important to know if you want to set realistic and achievable goals for yourself. First of
all, I need to ask you if you are ready to change your dietary habits so you can become healthier. I
really hope your answer is “yes”. If it was, we can continue…

I suppose that you have heard the phrase “tastes are different” many times and it is very true. We all
have our reasons why we like something more or less, and that applies to food too. People like
different food and tastes, which mainly depends on the climate in which they live, culture, and
traditions. However, have you ever wondered how our taste buds chose the food we love? Do the
senses shape our perception of taste, or are we simply used to the tastes that we have encountered
since childhood? And the main question is, are you ready to change some of your dietary patterns
and habits?

Medical research has confirmed that so-called "sweet taste" is the base of flavor, because there are
receptors specific to this taste placed in the tongue. Also, the nerves that recognize the sweet flavor
from the tongue send them to the brain, much faster than receptors responsible for any other taste.
So, we can say that the tendency for sweet flavor is therefore instinctive, but over time we
encounter other tastes and build our affinity towards food, depending not only on our dietary habits,
but also other circumstances and factors which should include our health condition. Psychologists
say we like some tastes because they remind us of our past, when we felt loved and safe. Most often
it’s linked with our childhood, as smells of some specific meal or some pastry remind us of our
grandmother or mother, and forever remain in our memory. On the other hand, if our parents forced
us to eat certain foods, that we for some reason didn’t like, then that can create a big aversion to it in
adulthood too.

The habits we gained, for example, the smell of our favorite coffee in the morning, alongside with
some tasty smell of pastries, are undoubtedly not easy to ignore and it’s even harder to expel them
from our menu completely. However, if something is confirmed, then this is trusted information and
knowledge. Therefore, discipline is the most important thing in life. The greatest skill in life is to
know how to control your needs. A few basic rules are: eat when you are hungry, do not eat when
you aren’t. Forget the rule to eat everything moderately - eat healthy food as much as possible, and
never eat unhealthy food!

It is important to set a goal whereby achievement can be measured in some way. You need to
determine what tool you can use to evaluate the progress towards your goal because if you can’t
measure it, you can’t control it. For example, if you want to lose weight, don’t make your goal to lose
all the extra pounds in one month, and to be honest with yourself, you didn’t gain it in a month.
Remember, if you can’t control something, you can’t change it. You need to accept the fact that a
healthy life requires changes. If you want to achieve this, you need to remember your ultimate goal
isn’t losing weight, but gaining knowledge about proper nutrition and understanding its importance.
If you understand this, you will be able to make choices for your body without focusing on things you
can’t eat, but instead choosing to eat delicious and healthy keto meals. If you can make a keto diet a
constant part of your life, in return you will get your ideal physique we all secretly crave and what’s
even more important, better health. Take it week by week, and be prepared because it will require
time and patience and you won’t be disappointed. Try to notice all of the small goals you achieve on
the path to the main one, and appreciate every victory. So, this video lesson is always choose
achievable goals and you will never fail. Keep this in mind until we see each other in the next video.
Thanks for watching!
