The industrial attachment is an essential component of the curricular of Ugenya Technical
and Vocational Training College and therefore one may not graduate without the industrial
attachment. During which the attaché is expected to acquire additional practical experience
to supplement their course of the study in the college. They are also exposed to the real
world and its challenges which will prepare them towards their future carriers. This report
is the outcome of the 12 weeks practical training I had at ROWO REFRIGERATION
AGENCY. So the willingness to work hard, and the confidence to succeed.

The company was founded in 2010 and it is located in Kisumu Ramogi Press Building in
along Accra Street .Since its inception the company has evolved to be among the major
companies in Kisumu County in the electro mechanical sector. Rich in expertise and in-
depth understanding of electrical and refrigeration technologies, standard , and protocol
soon to be number one choice for refrigeration and air conditioning that out sourced their
technical part of their business. Managed by highly qualified and experienced
professionals, the company has steadily grown expanding its presence into major towns in
the country providing instant services for the companies under contract. The goal of
ROWO REFRIGERATION AGENCY is to enable customers get services in a very
short time without facing disruptions.
Rowo Refrigeration Agencies is pride ourselves in having the best and the brightest
technical talent. The technical team is lead by a dedicated staff of experienced technicians
with rich professional backgrounds.
OBJECTIVE OF THE REPORT
The aim of this report is to indicate all areas that I covered during the industrial
attachment. Its main purpose is to indicate the skills and knowledge that I have obtained
during the field operations and how to incorporate practical working skills beyond those
gained at class level.
With the Services to the community and Kenya at ROWO REFRIGERATION
AGENCY .I joined the Electoral Mechanical sector in determination to cut niche for
myself in the profession .This entailed doing much on my own without waiting directives
from my supervisor and making my own research from other workers around.
8|Page
Some of the objectives I set include;
To learn how to overcome the challenges faced by the Rowo Refrigeration Agency
namely lack of ample time from the supervisor due to having more customers every
day amongst others.
It is important for a researcher to establish the respondent’s management leadership,
transparent and conducive environment for smooth running of the business and
strategies that their respective worker must be deployed equally for better services.
To know the role of the supervisor provision to its workers in the workshop.
For the study to have had a clear picture on the role of the Rowo Refrigeration
Agency management committee in training and capacity building of members and staff
of the country and other persons in the provision of public awareness and
participation in the activities of the community, the researcher sought to get both
respondent administrators and members where they perceived activities to have a role
in serving the Customers.
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
The organization structure consists of; Mechanical Engineers and Electricians.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Attachment period
Working with company made explore several places and some Permanent and semi-
permanent houses in County and mostly Kisumu County.
10 | P a g e
OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROJECT
In every project there must be an objective that drives one into; just like this project I
had the reasons or objectives as to why I was doing this project. The main objective of
this project was to find out how mechanical work is done and how electricity is
produced, distributed in grid lines, and mainly how to install various electrical and
mechanical devices.

CHAPTER THREE
FIELD WORK
Activities involved
In maintenance and installation, there are so many activities done for a result of a
smart work as an electrician, this activities are:
Safety precautions
Domestic Installation
ACHIEVEMENTS
Behind all this activities there are also achievements that I celebrate today.
Safety precautions- Handling electricity devices need some precautions; one should
take various measures before coming into contact with electricity.
Apologizing
I also learnt the art of apologizing for any wrong done before the supervisor learns of it
effectively practiced in the field. The supervisor should know of my mistake from
yourself rather than hearing it from other person

METHODS IN DATA COLLECTION
Observation participation
Observation is regarded as one of the few options available for studying records, mechanical
processes and complex interactive processes. Data can be gathered as events occurs
Concentration
I had to function through a setting full of destruction Hence I was able to secure information
about people and activities that cannot be derived from experience or surveys.
Detail-oriented
I had the ability to remember details of an experience hence avoided filtering and
forgetfulness.
Un-obtrusive
I had the ability to blend with the settings and not being distinctive hence reduced un-
obtrusive
Experience level
I had the ability to extract the most from an observation attachment hence secure
environmental context on information and optimize the naturalness of the attachment settings

A PROFILE IN SKILLS AND COMPETENCE GAINED.
These are areas of knowledge accumulated, ability to do work better.
Knowledge about organization works
I being given a chance to do attachment, i got to experience the different works people do
and it equipped the me with more knowledge.
Conducting meetings.
Since most communication in the organization were done through meetings the I got to
know more on how to lead and act in meeting, discipline was encouraged plus keeping
time and this improved a lot on my personality at the work place.
Handling guests
I could make sure the guests received what they want like giving them precise
information and good hospitality. A case to note is that their was the first student in the
supervisor’s office and when other students came, i had to welcome them well hence
this gave an opportunity to improve on the way of handling different categories of
people.
Monitoring and supervision
The monitoring and supervision of activities was done from other offices. I learnt more
from how unit supervisors do work and make it easier to perform their duties in time
and perfectly.
Conflict management
This was done in a way that is sensible, in this case the rebels were handled by the
supervisor i got to know the procedures required when managing conflicts as they used to
study in Organizational Theory. I got a lot of experience which can even be applied in the
normal life.

CHAPTER FOUR
CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED
During all this journey of 12 weeks in the field, there are also challenges that I faced.
These challenges were personal, organizational, work group, community and others and
they include;
Adopting to the working environment.
Due to the fact that the I was new in the organization, it took some time to get used and
cope with the working environment. I was not used to this culture and society this was a
big challenge. Therefore in the first days of attachment I did not have much to do and had
to be vigilant and sit and the day ends without having much to do this was a challenge
because it made me so idle and bored for the first weeks in the organization.
Transferring information in the meeting about different types of machines used.
This challenged me a lot since I had never come across some meetings like writing minutes
which I was told by the supervisor so the i always found a problem to identify which
minute to write. I also found a problem in making detailed descriptions since i always got
confused about the appropriate statements to write.
Noise pollution at the workshop
The organization being located in a noisy area in addition to mechanical workshop along
the Kisumu Accra Street was not suitable for the work which required a lot of
concentration for.
Boredom
During the attachment, I had to endure boredom especially towards the end of the period.
This was due to the monotony of the work being carried out and there was little to learn
except for the fact that there was an expectation for the work load to increase at a later
date.
Bureaucratic tendencies
The organizational challenge me encountered during the training was the length
reporting lines. This limited the training in the way that it leads to unnecessary delays and
therefore some targets and plans I had ended up falling short as well as inappropriate
feedback.
17 | P a g e
.
Inadequate equipment
This was the biggest factor in the organization, inadequate equipment included, computers,
chairs, enough room for the internees. At the Rowo Refrigeration Agencies they accept
students doing report until all departments were full then no more admissions where
allowed hence inadequate computers, this limited me experience in typing because typing
was done in phases.
Financial challenges.
Sickness due to weather change
Complexity of certain electrical plants used in installation
Dust and damages due lack of full safety personal protective gears (PPE’S) during
wiring and maintenance time.
Sexual harassment has been noted to compromise training of attachés.
This was solved by the supervisor who provided a schedule of duties to the attachment
to overcome the challenge of adopting to the working environment.
This was solved by the supervisor who gave me an opportunity to ask anything wasn’t
clear. That guidance helped me understand what to do. To do a way a challenge of
transferring information to the meeting.
This was solved by the specifying the supervisor the supervisor that the I was expected
to report to
I also made sure that I follow strictly what I was advised to do with the experts.
Issue Analysis
The issues faced by this business are physical and the good thing is that they can be
handled given time and resources. It’s just a matter of setting right priorities and attainable
goals within short or long term as well as handling installation site.

CHAPTER FIVE
CONCLUSIONS
To conclude, I am grateful for the opportunity that was offered to me and the training
environment that was provided by my supervisor MR.ISAACK OCHIENG .O. , the
knowledge he impacted in me is invaluable and cannot be compared to mere self research.

CHAPTER SIX
RECOMMENDATION
I would kindly recommend that such resource persons be invited to the college and interact
with the students during practical revision to also offer advice and enlightenment to the
business world.
I would also wish the college to procure and acquire some electrical sites and equipment so
that I can have continued exposure and experience of handling the equipment so that I get
familiar with them.
