Catfish Clay Project Evaluation

-Sophie the Hamster

Describe:

My catfish has a green mermaid tail and the torso, front legs, and head of a cat. The cat part of

my catfish is peachy white. The catfish has dark green eyes and a pink nose. He also has

whiskers and pink inside his ears. The tail of the catfish has lots of little scales. I would say that

the catfish looks friendly. Some techniques and elements used are color and shape.

Analyze:

There is green in the tail and in the eyes, which makes the artwork feel more like it fits together.

The pink of the nose and ears does that as well. The shapes used in my artwork are triangles and

tube shapes. The end of the tail and the ears are both pointy and the long part of the tail and the

front legs are both tube shapes.

Interpret:

The message of my piece is ‘be creative.’ Normal catfish are just weird fat fish, so I made a cat

with a fish tail. It’s sort of a joke, I guess. It tells you to be creative and to think out of the box.

When somebody looks at the catfish, I think they’d say it is funny.

Asses:

I think that my catfish sort of fits together. White and green are very different, and I think I could

have made the colors fit together better. I think that the shapes and details made the artwork

successful. I really like the scales and the fur texture. I think that like I mentioned before, the
colors could fit together better and that could be something that could be worked on. So, if I

could do the sculpture again, I would work more on the colors.
