Music Video

RATIONALE
The past year and a half have seen me create two short films, two documentaries, one music
video and a few other small projects and I am now finally onto my final project of the course
which will be my second music video. I have learnt a lot from each of these projects and hope to
amass all this knowledge and put my skills to the test and create my best and most ambitious
project yet. Before starting this course, I had minimal understanding of editing software and just
about knew how to use a camera, I am now extremely experienced in Adobe Premiere Pro, After
Effects, Audition and have become more than comfortable using my Canon DSLR camera. But I
have not only developed my production and post-production skills but also my pre-production
skills such as location scouting, scriptwriting and general organisational skills allowing me to plan
a trip a 2-day trip to Somerset for my most recent music video to Wash. - Bon Iver which turned
out to be a roaring success. I have found over the time on the course my taste in films and music
videos have developed tremendously and the course has given me a greater appreciation for the
art, and I believe this has shown through the development between my productions.

PROJECT CONCEPT
With this project I am aiming to tell a concise and cohesive narrative partnered with beautiful and
all around aesthetically pleasing cinematography with a clear a unique look to it, creating a well-
produced extended narrative music video. I am planning on telling a romance / love story through
this music video so I will have to find a song that is appropriate. I have lightly dealt with romances
stories in the past, such as in both my short films but for this one it will be the key focus of the
story. This production will most definitely be my most ambitious yet as I will have to cast more
actors than ever before along with shooting at more locations and producing a script in which I am
proud of. I plan on having better costume design, make-up, and props than ever before. I know for
a fact that this project will be time consuming and will be a struggle to get completed within the
set timeframe, but I believe with solid planning and execution I should be able to get it done. I
also need to spend time doing proper research and test shoots to ensure that my knowledge on
the subject matter and camera work is up to scratch, composing well framed and composed shots
before moving onto filming.

EVALUATION
To ensure that I have a successful evaluation I will be producing a weekly blog describing and
evaluating the events that took place over the last week and what I need to catch up on / what I
can improve moving forward. I will also regularly get feedback for teachers and peers to ensure
that my idea will be able to come to fruition. At the end of the project, I will produce a final
written evaluation detailing the outcomes and events of the entire project but more importantly
how these events effected my production and what they taught me, I will also be getting behind
the scenes footage and pictures for my final evaluation to have proof of my work. To show the
progression of my work I will detail it in the final evolution showing the different drafts of my final
production along with screenshots of Premiere Pro and any other applicable software I may use.
