Introduction:
Many researches in the field of poultry nutrition have been conducted to improve both
broiler and layer hen production.
The increase of economic outcome to the best possible point is ultimate goal of
producers.
The poultry industry has in recent years occupied a leding role among agriculture
industries in many parts of the world, encluding republic of Yemen .Recently, the
republic of Yemen has been facing difficulties in providing enough diet raw materials
that used in animal rations due the land and water limitation and other factors.
For instance ,Yemen stel import poultry meat only 63,115 ton in 1999 was imported to
cover the needs of poultry meat for the markets . (statistic. Book 1999 ) and also
Yemen stel import raw materials for animal feed, for ex. In 1992 Yemen imported
19600 tons of corn / maize and soybean cake and 19500 tons of concentrates with total
amount $50.5 million ( Nasar 1992 ) .
The present study aimd to utilze the rturned baker remain for consumers within the
capital administration ( Sana’a – city , Taiz \ aldhodah / lahg\Aden ) tabl 4 ( a ,b,c, d,e )
as a partial substitute with various percentages in rations of layer hens as a source of
energy instead of imported corn and wheat.
So this study aimed to find the best possible balance between diet cost and meat, egg,
production under present circumstances of Yemen ( Al- Mulsi 1998 )

Materials and Methods :

Eighty Hi-line layer hens were bought from Mareb Poultry Company at fifty weeks of
age, and assigned randomly into four treatment groups, in this experiment.
This experiment was carried out at poultry farm, faculty of agriculture, Sana’a
University during – Jan- march 2006.
Breed used was hi- line , the diets were prepared in a specialized establishment at
faculty farm, department of animal production.
The components used were, corn yellow , soy bean meal (44%cp ) wheat bran. Oyster
shell, concentrate ( layer ) 50 % ) bakery remain and vitamin + minerals see tab (1 )
hen – day egg production were collected daily during the experimental period and
registrated while daily feed consumption were recorded .
The hens of each treatment were housed into 5 cages ( battery system ) .
The diets used ( table 1 ) were formulated and chemically analyzed at the laboratory of
koudus Co. ( in Holland ) and Cairo.
Feed was given ad libitum ( 1 kg ) every second day and the feed consumed was
recorded.
The hens were weigh individually four times during the trail.
Eggs of each cage were collected daily, also 12 eggs were weihged for each treatment
every second week .
The temperature, humidity, light were based on ISI draft standards.
Fresh water was available all the time statistical analysis was carried out by Snedecor,
and conchran (1980) also the specification of egg quality were done by using haugh
unit and analyzed see ( tab 6b )
Results and Discussion :
Chemical analyzes for all rations indicate that percentage of nutrient contins were
nearly similar to that of commercial ration particularly ration number three. Protein
percentages were 16.9, 16.4, 15.5crude fiber percentage were 2.1, 2.8 and 2.4 compare
with 2.6 of commrecial ration.
Total ash percentage showed brighly significant difference between rations 14.2,9.9
and 9.2 compared with 17.8 of commercial. (Tab 1).

In another hand calcium percentage in commercial rations was higher 3.1 , 2.6 and
2.25 where as in commercial ration were 4.8 % .
Olivera et al ( 1995 ) they used bakery waste as basal diet from 22-42 days old broiler
with corn 33.33% and 66.66% bakery , their result was feed intake decreased as
bakery waste increased and feed conversion imporoved with increasing bakery waste.
Also Menten et al (1998) used dehydrated bakery product for determination of cholin
in ingredients nad feeds . compared with our conversion wisch was the best in T3 and
T2 .
The other authors also study using none conventional feed items in poultry as Reddy –
ts ( 1997 )
They used for feeding birds difernt of uncommon feeds in cloding bakery and biscutit
wastes. Treated with 0.1 Naoh also Bastien et al ( 1990 ) they used dried bakery by
products mixtures with contaning ( lactobacillus and striptococcus feccium ) mixture
were incubated at temprature 24 – to 37 c .
Nelson et al (1989) study in two experiment nutritional value of bakery meals the
results of using bakery meal for average true digestibilties of 16 aminoacids is 79.1 %
also kersey et al ( 2000 ) used dried bakery product in broiler diets .
The aim of their experiment was do determine dressing percentage and caracass
effects on live performance or caracass Also Y. AE et al 1999 study the aflatoxin
contaminated hen diets and it effct.
The statistical analyzes showed significant differences in egg production of ration T3,
and T2 compared with control (tab6c), whereas no signlficant differences in egg
weight between all rations and contorl ( tab 6d ) the average weekly production were
significantly different from control , because ration (T1 ) one and tow (T2 ) contained
higher protein percentage 16.9 , 16.4 than ration three and control 15.5 and 15.2 it was
shown that weekly egg production was dicrised at week neinth , for all ration and
control , 81,67,98, and 65 respectively ( tab 3 ) .
The performance of layer hen depends on growth period and growth programs and
breed development ( Go . palakrisman .C. A et al ) also:
Wang et al (1997) reported that addtion of many amino acid such as thyrosin and
cystin increase egg production. In thes experiment, egg prodction in T1 ( 16.6 %
protein ) 1231 eggs at sixety one week of age , comparing to the result of Al-aghbari
where 15 % protein was used and were 18-20 weeks of age .

He concluded that low protein (15% ) in the ration provided to hens of (20-46 ) weeks
at age could not support egg production and egg size to optional Level .

The differences in the results due to component of rations and nutrient contains.
The results of all rations after 77 days of feeding show that hens provided high protein
ration ( ration one ) have high feed conversion coefficient 2.44 kg feed/ kg egg .
The lawest feed conversion coefficient 1.98 kg feed /kg egg was for T2 comparing with
2.32 , 2.44 for T3 and T1 (control 2.5) ( tab 3 ) . ecnomiclly if we look to the prices of
poultry feed , the cest of ton fo layer feerd is 42 thausanat Y.R.
In our exeperiment with using beackery remain substitution in layer hen ration with
10 % the cost of one ton feed is 35 , thausant YR with 15 % the cost is 34.686 Y.R, with
20 % the cost is 34055 YR.
So we can see the different it is about 44 fourty four us$ per ton.

It can be concluded that using different locally component, of layer feed with adding
aminoacids and menirals ( avico )(2000) (tab2) in the ration in yemen might be
beneficial to the producers and save more hard currency due to decreasing expenses
and improving the balance of payment .
The situation on the feedstuff, markert at the republic of Yemen is such , that existing
prices of locally produced feed materials are variable and sometimes even higher than
of important feedstuffs .
Locally produced feeding matirials require rapid increase of production , namely of
the yields of sereals and improvement of technolgy of production of cake meals and
constructuion of establishments for production of meals of animal origin, particulaly of
fishmeal , meatbon meal and bloodelmeal ( Al-mulsi 1998 )

abstract :

The present study aimed to utilize the returned baker remain from consumers within the
capital administration , Aden city , Taiz city and Lahg(Alhodah city) as a partial substitute
with various percentages in rations of layer hens as a source of energy instead of imported
corn .
Eighty Hi-six layer hens, thirty seven weeks old, were bought from Maareb company and
dibided into four groups, T1, T2 , T3 , and C. Rations with different percentage of baker
remain were assigned randomly to treatments and control, 10 , 15 , 20 % , and commiracial
standard ration respectively for seventy five days of feeding .

Initial and every two weeks wights were taken for each hen until the and of the experiment ,
samples from all rations were subjected to chemical analysis in our laboratory and kuudjs Co.
Holland .
Results of chemical analysis indicated that protein precent in rations werw as the valuse of
16.9 , 16.40, 15.50, and 15.20 respectively . daily egg prokuction and feed consumption in
every other day for each group were recorded to calculate feed conversion coefficient which
resulted as 2.44 , 1.98 . 2.32 and 2.52 kg of feed /kg of egg respectively .
One – way analysis of variace and least significant difference ( LSD ) were applied sa a
significant test and comparisons among treatment means. The statistical analysis indicated
that there were significant differences among all rations in egg production and egg weight, but
no real differnce in body weight.
These results suggest that partial substitution of baker remain instead of imported corn can
be used to save hard currency for the nation.
