Artificial Intelligence Story Retold

The earth has been filled with pollution all over that even the polar
icecaps are starting to melt. Likewise, in this irreversible and inevitable
situation, even couples who would want to have children are required to
have them registered to be able to control human population.

Since children were highly controlled to exist, Professor Allen Hobby

from the Cybertronics proposed the mecha technology with the intent to
have robots that have emotions to love and create a bond like a son and
mother relationship.

Fast forward 18 months after, the Swinton family experienced a very

saddening event. Their son Martin was striken by a dehabilitating disease
called cryostasis. Due to this, Monica, the mother of the boy was
extremely depressed and so her husband Henry decided to ease her
sadness by taking the opportunity to try on the newest mecha since he
was an employee of cybertronics.

Upon the arrival of David, the robot boy, into the Swinton’s residence,
Monica was in rage as she felt her son was being replaced. However, as
time passed Monica started to love David and therefore she made the
decision to imprint on David and stimulate his emotions since she has
decided to keep him. But, in case if she wouldn’t want David anymore,
David has to be destroyed. Knowing this Monica still loved David and
even offered him her son’s robotic teddy bear named Teddy.

But as everything was going perfect for David, news came that Martin
was well and the events shifted drastically then on. Martin treated David
as a toy and created multiple attempts to get rid of him. On one occasion,
Martin told David to cut Monica’s hair in order that Monica will love him
more, and when David did this, Henry caught him and though he attacked
Monica.

As months passed, Martin’s birthday came and David’s want to be a real

boy was even stronger at this moment. He tried talking to the friend’s of
Martin but an unfortunate event took place that as David was pained he
accidentally pulled and drowned Martin into the water which caused
everyone to cast the blame on him again.

After the event, Henry has firm to return David to cybertronics to be

destroyed. This was not in Monica’s liking so she decided to bring David
on a picnic and then leave him because she could not bear to see David
destroyed. Left alone in the woods together with teddy, David felt
confused and grieved to be away from his mommy. After so much
thought, David concluded that he was left alone because he wasn’t a real
boy afterall.

As a solution, David searched for the Blue fairy where he could become a
real boy. In his search for the blue fairy he was lead to what was called
the 'Flesh Fair' where mechas are destroyed for the amusement of anti-
mecha fanatics. Here he met Gigolo Joe who became his friend as they
were close enough to be terminated. Glad enough, the people were
convinced that he was indeed a boy and so he and Joe was set free.

As their freedom was sure, David invites Joe to come with him to a quest
to find the blue fairy. On their journey, they met Dr. Know who told them
that the blue fairy can be found in 'Man-hattan,' where many mechas
have gone to the end of the world and have never come back. As David
was determined to proceed to Man-hattan despite all the possible dangers,
Joe was caught by the Police for murder. Luckily, David rescued Joe
through an Amphibicopter. So, they were able to head to their destination,
Man-hattan.

In Man-hattan, David discovers mecha’s just like him. He was in terrible

despair to see so much mecha’s as himself that could be his rivals for his
mother’s love. As he went outside Cybertronics, he dived under water
and saw a light shining therein. Sadly, Joe was caught but David was able
to make his escape through Joe’s help where he programmed the
Amphibicopter to dive under water. Here David met the blue fairy who
told him that Monica can only be brougt to life for only a day. Upon
hearing this, David had no second thoughts and agreed to its terms.

David then felt relieved that after 2000 years of journeying to become a
boy and see Monica, his quest was finally over. He was able to hug his
mother again and he knew she loved him too. As the day comes to its
setting, David and Monica revealed the happiest faces, as their lives are
now filled with peace and comfort to be in each other’s arms. The end.
