• The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, launched ‘Har Ghar
Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission.
• The ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission aims to the portable water
supply to every rural house of the state by March 2022.
• He also inaugurated Mega Surface Water Supply Scheme which covers 85
villages of Moga district of the state, 144 new water supply schemes for 172
villages of the state and 121 arsenic and iron removal plants.
• The funds for the scheme are approved by World Bank, GOI’s Jal Jeevan
Mission, NABARD and Gov. of Punjab.
• The scheme will prove beneficial to more than 1.6 lakh residents from 155
villages in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab by replacing
groundwater with surface water supply for drinking, besides resolving the
problem of arsenic affected habitations.
