Project Proposal

I. TITLE OF ACTIVITY

Empowering youth who struggle with the online learning

platform of education during the pandemic.

II. RATIONALE

Pandemic is the reason why everything changes. Some cannot

provide for their daily needs, especially when it comes to education. It
is because it destroys everything in a minute. During this pandemic,
the online learning platforms were difficult adjustments for the youth
who were studying. Some of them are experiencing stress because
online learning is becoming more challenging, and workloads are
increasing. At the same time, the others are uncomfortable with it due
to a decrease in their self-esteem and confidence. Conducting group
work sessions may help our clients not feel alone in every battle of
their lives and give them the strength to cope with today's happening
in our country particularly the stressful life events.

Youth empowerment is a process that encourages young people

to take charge of their lives. They accomplish this by first addressing
their situation and then acting to enhance their access to resources
and modify their awareness through their beliefs, values, and
attitudes. The goal of youth empowerment is to improve their quality
of life. Youth empowerment is achieved through participation in youth
empowerment activities. Around the world, a number of youth
empowerment activities are taking place. These programs may be
offered by non-profit organizations, governmental organizations, or
schools. Youth empowerment focuses on methods that encourage
participation, improved control through shared decision making, and
opportunities to learn, practice, and improve abilities.

Youth empowerment programs thrive in positive developmental

settings. Positive developmental settings promote youth competence,
confidence and connections. Two features of the positive
developmental youth settings are supportive relationships and support
for efficacy and mattering. Supportive relationships are those that are
between youth and non-familial adults that foster trust and respect.
Support for efficacy and mattering specifically focuses on youth being
active, collective decision-making and adults listen to and respect their
voice.

Gems Heart Outreach Dev't., Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit and

non-government organization founded in July 2006 and accredited by
the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Upon
admission/enrollment to the program, they respond to the needs of
the children, youth with their families in difficult situations ages 5-24
years old upon admission/enrollment to the program.

III. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF GROUPWORK

 To develop genuine relationships and establish personal connections
with one another.
 Engage youth in interesting, enjoyable, rewarding, and appropriate
activities while also supporting the development of behavioral and
leadership skills.
 To provide learning experience to empower themselves that
promotes self-development and improve self-esteem.
 To strengthen the youth's positive mindset to enable them to have
ways of handling stressful life events.
 To enhance their ability to determine his or her own strengths and
weaknesses which will help them figure out what else they need to
improve on themselves.

IV. DESCRIPTION OF GROUPWORK ACTIVITY

This is a 3-day activity session that may provide learning,

knowledge, and enjoyment for both young people and social work
interns. The activity will be held in virtual ways, such as Google Meet

This activity will help the youth establish relationships with one
another. Throughout the activities, including orientation, webinar,
interactive games, and meaningful discussions, it will help the
