MY REFLECTION

There were five topics that we discussed during the third examination. Each of the topics
provides detailed information about the main idea so that we students can understand well and
learn new information and idea about certain things.

In the first topic, we discussed the Information Age. It provides the details about how and
when did the first known means of communication were established by Johannes Gutenberg
and the impact of this thing that shape our world. So many things that we used today related to
information were inspired by it. We know that in our generation today, we use gadgets to access
the internet to find and know certain information in just the blink of an eye.

In the second topic, we tackled all about Biodiversity and the Health Society. It
discussed how our biodiversity supports lifeforms like us human and societal needs that include
food, development of medicine, and freshwater, which together underpin good health. Also, we
discussed the things that may threaten our biodiversity that we humans are the main doers like
pollution, contamination, and global climate change. The threat may affect our environment that
bad, not just for us humans but for all lifeforms on earth. So, it is important to protect our
biodiversity because it is the foundation for human health.

In the third topic, we talked about Genetically Modified Engineering or GMOs in short.
We discussed what is a GMO and certain examples of it that provide benefits for us. We also
tackled Genetic Engineering and how it works. GMO is very useful especially in the field of
agriculture because it makes the plant grow faster, longer shelf life, and is more nutritious. But,
not hidden in our knowledge that GMOs had also negative sides that some report that may
affect our health that results from the allergic response and side effects. But for me, I think
GMOs have more positive things that help our world problem.

In the fourth topic, we discussed Gene Therapy. We talked about what it is and how it
works. As what in the topic, gene therapy can wipe out genetic diseases before they can begin
and eliminate suffering for future generations. It can save thousands of lives which is the good
aspect of it. But just like GMOs, it also has a bad effect because of their reaction to the body
that makes humans suffer. I think scientists should research more about it and may sooner, it
can be perfected.

In the last topic, we talked about Nanotechnology. We define what it is, how it works,
and the things that we usually used that are associated with nanotechnology. From what I see,
nanotechnology has greatly contributed to major advances in computing and electronics,
leading to faster, smaller, and more portable systems. Also, it is a very big help in the field of
medicine. I think that nanotechnology is the future of our world.

All the discussed topics have an impact on our world today. All have positive and
negative effects on our life, but I think it is normal because we humans are not perfect beings,
and we can’t control some things. Whether the outcome is failed or succeeded, we are still the
ones who create our destiny and shape the world.
