growing population of the world. Healthcare careers are not only limited to doctors and nurses there are also different health
career pathways you can consider, no matter what your skills and interests may be. Disease prevention and control, personal
healthcare, Maternal and childcare are just a few of the health career pathways you may choose from. A lot of people have
been considering on a healthcare career and in order to achieve this profession here are some components and things to
consider in planning a healthcare career as a main or secondary profession.

The first and most important thing to consider when planning a career is to Assess yourself and identify
your career options. As mentioned the Health career industry includes a lot of various professions. It is up to you
discover what are the interest, strengths, skills, values, etc. you may have that could fit any healthcare profession out
there. This may help you narrow down your options. This could also help you to plan what skills you would need to improve
or have. As you have discovered more about yourself it is time for you to Research further. Explore more on your
chosen options. You may attend different lectures, programs, internships or career fairs to discover more on the healthcare
career you chose. You can also research on your own, or even ask people who works in the healthcare industry. This could
help you make your plan more realistic and a much more likely success. Decide on the career you would enter.
To finally start your plans you now have to decide what career pathway you would choose. After evaluating and doing
research it is time to decide what career is the most suitable for you. Make comparisons on the careers that you chose and
list there pros cons. Consider other factors beyond your personal preference, like current demand on the field, the
qualifications and a lot more. When you have chosen your career it is time to Set “SMART” goals. Set short-term
goals to be achieved in one year or less and long-term goals to be achieved in one to five years. Smart goals are S is for
specific - identify your goals, M is for measurable – add a criteria to determine progress and accomplishments, A is for
attainable – the goal must have a great chance for it to be accomplished, R is for relevant – the goal must be something that is
related to your career, T is for Time Bound – it must be committed to a specific time rate. Be realistic on your
expectations, when planning a career it is important for you to remember that it is something you can achieve. Stay
organize; Write down specific actions steps to achieve your goals. Check them off as you complete them, but since your
goals may change you can always include or change what is in your list. Finally the last thing you could do is Adapt and
review your goals regularly. Since goals may be changed when planning you have to regularly check and adapt
from the changes you have made to successfully achieve your plan in having a healthcare career.

There is so much to remember and consider when planning for a healthcare career but after a while everything would
be worth the hard work. As mentioned it is a very rewarding job and this career would be very worth considering, it has a lot
of perks that would be very beneficial not only to you but to everyone is this world. With this career you could make a
difference on a person’s life. It can increase your motivation at work knowing that you can contribute to creating a healthier
world. A healthcare career has variety of fields on high demand in every country. It has an excellent job prospect that could
land you a job much easier due to the increase of countless job opportunities. It also has a very good pay with multiple
benefits. Those are just the few things that you could achieve when you have a healthcare career but of course before anyone
can do that you have to successfully plan and execute it like a pro. Remember all the things you need to consider when
planning and of course never give up, anyone could achieve this as long as they are determined on getting it so there is really
