First Company Interview-Re Earth with

Mr. Swapnil Bodhe

Sustainable living highlights individual actions to lessen our impact on the planet, but
do our choices actually make a difference? The simple answer is yes, but there’s
more to it. Addressing this issue, as a part of our Eumind project we got the privilege
of interviewing Mr. Swapnil Bodhe who owns an organization named Re-earth
Mr. Swapnil Bodhe decided to take a different path when he realized that what he was
doing successfully was not doing good for his surroundings. Here is a summary of
his eye-opening answers to our questions asked..
When asked-How does food waste affect climate change? According to him, man
requires few elements for survival like air, water, food and soil. Usage of chemical
Fertilizers in soil kill the billion microorganisms necessary for regeneration of life
thus gradually affecting the natural food cycle. Man is trying to meet the huge
demand of food by cultivating from little thereby affecting the natural resources and
Climate.
What are the most effective ways of preventing food wastage?
According to him, growing one’s own food, going local and not buying packaged
and imported food for which a lot of resources are used is one effective way of
reducing food wastage. He stressed on trying to achieve minimal food wastage at
home and one should realize and appreciate the efforts put by a farmer in getting
food to your plate. He strongly felt that millennials like him should wake up to
environmental issues and clean up the planet for the future generation. For this, his
company is involved in growing more trees, cleaning up hills while trekking and
cleaning water bodies. His company also makes chemical free products as he
noticed that something as simple as using a fluoride toothpaste and a chemical soap
in the morning pollutes the soil and water bodies.
Thus he made us understand the difference between man-made food systems and
natural food systems and to make a healthy choice for sustainable living and to
conserve Mother Earth for our own better future.
