THERMO REFLECTION SCRIPT

Greetings and Hai everyone especially to my thermodynamic lecturer, Prof. Dr. Chu Chi Ming.
My name is Khairul Aznizam Bin Sodiwal with matric number BK2011259. In this video, I will
share my reflection about what I have learnt from assignment 2. Basically, our assignment 2
topic is about the violation of second law of thermodynamics in macro-scale and we are need to
investigate about the experiment. The second law of thermodynamics states it would be
impossible to simply remove heat energy from a reservoir and use it to generate work. Based
on my teammate report, Roslyana, the experiment from Australian researcher contradicts what
people understand in the second law of thermodynamics where they found that the water
molecules occasionally kicked the bead in such a way that energy was transferred from the
water to the bead over time periods of up to two seconds.

From this assignment, I was learning that not all the theory or law in this world will work
and be applied in all conditions in this universe. For example, this experiment can prove that
the second law can be violated at microscale which is this experiment is very mind blowing to
people. And maybe there are some another law or physical theory that not applied in microscale
and I think it is interesting to study.

The second one, I was learning about the implication to the nanotechnology when second
law was violated at macroscale. As we know, the nowadays world want to further expand the
world of nanotechnology. But this finding gives a limitation in miniaturization of machines. I
give an example, when you run more than more than 20km and sometimes you can feel the
pain on your feet. So, you put the limit that you can run until maybe 15-20km only without any
injuries. Same as well on this situation, where the nanotechnologist and engineering could place
a fundamental limit on the miniaturization of machines and they must be prepared and
investigate more about this situation before continues to producing a nanomachines.

Other than that, I also learn about perpetual motion machine of the second kind (PMM2) on
this assignment. PMM2 is the device or machine that violated the second law of
thermodynamics and I think since the violations of second law can occur in macroscale, PMM2
has possibility can exist in nanotechnology. But my opinion is impossible to accept since the
entropy decrease only detected at 2 seconds. On overall positive entropy change was measured
throughout time intervals of more than two seconds, and the second law took applied again.
So, for now, it is impossible to us to make a PMM2 that can run more 2 second in macroscale.
