Paatal lok

Exploitation of Creative liberty or

brutal Reality

Recently ,The web series named 'Paatal lok' released on the

amazon prime video and shortly became the discussing topic
everywhere not only for its story, screenplay, direction &
powerful acting performances but also for its content which
seems to hurt some of the people's emotion . But, is it so ?
Lots of people in the industry praised the series through
social media, viewers also complimented it by comparing it
with series like 'Mirzapur' & 'Sacred games'.
In the series , story starts with the harsh truth in real world
by classifying world into three classes showing existing
inequality. One who is rich & powerful lives in a heaven,
2nd one consists middle class people struggling daily for
their needs & rights and third who are criminals made by
situation or by choice.
From the very first scene, Audience start to
relate with the story, when police goes for the protection of a
woman & instead of thanking them ,she started using
abusive words for the police. This is exactly the same
scenario happened during this lockdown due to
COVID19.How shameful it is !
In series:-
In real life :-

As story moves forward , viewers get introduced to the

darker side of journalism & media. The news channel which
is popular due to face value of one journalist, how he uses it j
for money & TRP of the channel without knowing the actual
facts. Story has shown lots of angles in media so that
audience can get an idea about hidden side of it & how it
gets purchased by some powerful people. After sometime,
we started to realize the real reasons behind India's press
freedom ranking which is 142 out of 180 in the world in spite
of being world's largest democracy.
Now, there is a repetitive use of an insulting word in the
series for Muslim people which comes from one of their
traditions. It shows that, knowingly or unknowingly, how
hatred can be spread towards one community by using
words which will make them offended, feel them ashamed
and alone in their very own country. This thing gets even
more highlighted when in one of the scenes one woman
literally vomit by watching the food "they" are eating. This
disgusting attitude for one particular community is shown so
much that one is not in the condition to accept purified water
bottle touched by "them" and this is happening even after
the 75th years of independence ,after the establishment of
constitution .This incidence shows ground reality, the
unspoken, Inherent disgust for some people which is not
right for the society we are living in.
This hatred goes even more further and crosses its limits
when that Helpless & despairing father in the picture whose
elder son got butchered in Hindu-Muslim chaos , he becomes
so scared that he converts the religion of his younger son.
one of his dialogue that straightly goes into audience heart
showing His fear & helplessness is "Jisse maine kabhi
musalman bhi nahi bannne diya usse apne jihadi bana diya"
Further in the story , There is use of word "Nepali R---"
during interrogation. Some people in Gorkha committee
takes stand against it. According to them ,this word malign
the reputation of Nepali community in India. This is the part
of controversy happened after releasing the series.

Another religion related issue come in the series when in one

of the scenes, One punjabi man with turban watching rape
happening on one woman in front of him and he is not even
trying to stop it & the rapist were his friends with turban. The
things are already get dirtier because one of the leader from
'Akali Dal' files complain against this. According to him ,one
who is with turban called 'Amritdhari sikh' can't do & think
about such dirt. He has taken oath for protection of the
people especially women.
There is more religion base controversial scenes shown in
the series. In one scene where one man eating non-veg in the
place where Lord Shiva statue is situated. This becomes the
reason for rage for Hindu community. Great disappointment
has been shown for this on social media . Also, in one adult
scene, One man intimates with someone by rounding his
janeu to his ear. There is condemn coming from brahmin
community for this scene.

In the series , there is also showcase of dark side of politics

which stands on the pillars of casteism. How politicians play
divide & rule games and how they fool people in the name of
religion is also shown in the series.
Apart from this negative sides, there is positives sides also
shown on the series such as love & battle between husband
and wife, their care for each other. Also, inexpressible bond
between father and son especially in police family is
portrayed very beautifully.
Also, the most beautiful & learnable thing which everyone of
us can learn from this series is to love animals. All that we
need in the world is love & respect it is true even for animals.
The special bond between animal(DOG) & man which wins
the heart of viewers and takes series to next level.

At the end of the series , we finally get to know about in

politics in police department as well. How honest policeman
has got played by some powerful people in the government &
because of that what situations he has to face is precisely
told by the writer.
And the most important topic which is underdog in the whole
series is the youths' pseudo macho attitude to show off their
strength & power by keeping guns & working under some
thugs. I think , their curiosity will become their first step on
the wrong path which we called "Crime world" or "Paatal
lok".
This series is a tight slap on those particular people who are
spreading violence & hatred , making people anxious &
angry on the name of religion & God, Allah. This is the lesson
for common man to learn not to get manipulated without
understanding & checking the reality. I think this series tells
people not to trust anyone blindly especially during
elections. Also, viewers get important teaching of loving
animals especially who hasn't someone to take care of them
such as stray dogs etc.
We know that we are not living in the utopian world. If such
incidence happening in the country, we must accept it ,we
shouldn't deny it at all. All we people not only condemn such
evil things but also discover why such evil takes birth in the
society? we have to search, understand and strategize to
vanish that reasons because this is the need of today.
Otherwise, Who knows this bad things knock your door
today and forcefully enter in your home tomorrow? who
knows the country with the largest youth capital in the world
unknowingly........................
Those who are against some controversial scenes and taking
actions against it, need to know that only audience has the
right to decide moral boundaries for themselves , It varies
person to person, family to family. Let audience decide that.
On one side , movies like Pad-man, Toilet- Ek prem katha,
Mission mangal which shows achievements of our people,
positive side of our people, but, on the other side movie like
Shahid, Udata punjab & then this series like Paatal lok they
are all somewhat showing negative side .Not just because
they want to defame someone or some religion but because
they want to tell us that yes, evil exists in the same world
where good things are happening too, accept it and don't
walk onto that sinful path that ultimately ends in the
hell ,which is going to be immoral for our people, our
country, our world .
At the same time film makers, series makers have to
consider that they shouldn't be put controversial scene in the
series purposely. Negative publicity work only for sometimes
, your content makes the real gem shines. Using creative
liberty talking about the facts & things which still not openly
spoken will make great impacts on society, on the world.
This disdain goes much more further and crosses its cutoff
points when that Helpless and despondent dad in the image
whose senior child got butchered in Hindu-Muslim disorder ,
he turns out to be frightened to the point that he changes
over the religion of his more youthful child. one of his
exchange that straightly goes into crowd heart showing His
dread and powerlessness is "Jisse maine kabhi musalman
bhi nahi bannne diya usse apne jihadi bana diya"
Further in the story , There is utilization of word "Nepali R - "
during cross examination. Certain individuals in Gorkha
board takes remain against it. As per them ,this word defame
the standing of Nepali people group in India. This is the piece
of discussion occurred in the wake of delivering the series.
As of late ,The web series named 'Paatal lok' delivered on the
amazon prime video and in a matter of seconds turned into
the examining theme wherever not just for its story,
screenplay, heading and incredible acting exhibitions yet
additionally for its substance which appears to hurt a portion
of individuals' feeling . Yet, is it so ? Heaps of individuals in
the business commended the series through online media,
watchers additionally praised it by contrasting it and series
like 'Mirzapur' and 'Holy games'.

In the series , story begins with the brutal truth in genuine

world by grouping world into three classes showing existing
disparity. One who is rich and amazing lives in a paradise,
second one comprises working class individuals battling
every day for their necessities and freedoms and third who
are hoodlums settled on by circumstance or by decision.

From the absolute first scene, Audience begin to relate with

the story, when police goes for the security of a lady and
rather than saying thanks to them ,she began utilizing
harmful words for the police. This is the very same situation
occurred during this lockdown because of COVID19.How
disgraceful it is !

As story pushes ahead , watchers get acquainted with the

hazier side of news-casting and media. The news channel
which is famous because of assumed worth of one
columnist, how he utilizes it for cash and TRP of the channel
without knowing the established truths. Story has shown
bunches of points in media so crowd can find out with
regards to stowed away side of it and how it gets bought by
some influential individuals. After at some point, we began to
understand the genuine explanations for India's press
opportunity positioning which is 142 out of 180 on the planet
disregarding being world's biggest vote based system.
Presently, there is a redundant utilization of an offending
word in the series for Muslim individuals which comes from
one of their practices. It shows that, purposely or
unknowingly, how contempt can be spread towards one local
area by utilizing words which will make them irritated, feel
them embarrassed and alone in their own personal country.
This thing settles the score more featured when in one of the
scenes one lady in a real sense upchuck by watching the
food "they" are eating. This appalling mentality for one
specific local area is shown such a lot of that one isn't in the
condition to acknowledge refined water bottle contacted by
"them" and this is occurring even after the 75th long
stretches of autonomy ,after the foundation of
constitution .This frequency shows ground reality, the
implicit, Inherent loathing for certain individuals which isn't
appropriate for the general public we are living
in..............................

Recently, the web series 'Paatal lok' debuted on Amazon

Prime Video and quickly became a hot subject, not only
because of its plot, script, director, and outstanding acting
performances, but also because of its content, which
appeared to damage some people's emotions. Is this,
however, the case? Many industry insiders applauded the
series on social media, while viewers complemented it by
comparing it to shows like "Mirzapur" and "Sacred Games."
The series begins with a harsh reality in the actual world by
categorising the globe into three groups, demonstrating
current inequity. The wealthy and powerful live in paradise,
while the middle class struggles on a daily basis.
