Ill manors Representation as a collective

The first show we see is an establishing shot of an urban estate with canary wharf in the background. This is gives instigates us thinking that there is a social divide between the rich and the poor and that they are two different worlds. This gives the representation that the two classes are different from one another and as a collective they are in conflict to the upper class. We then see a scene where there are several youths who are in hoodies and balaclavas this links gives off the representation of youth being intimidating and wanting to conceal an identify also that they are involved in crime. This is due to the Medias coverage on the riots and now these items of clothing have negative connotations which lead individuals to believe this. We then see an animation of a safari truck urban safari this relates to the area that is classed as urban being made out to be a concrete jungle. A jungle has animals in it which leads to the representation of youth from this area being wild animals as of the use of urban safari and their behaviours within the urban establishment. Also plan B quotes we might see some illegal migrants this leads us to believe that people of a low social class with be here and gives the negative representation of the lower class collective being found here. We then see Ben in a car park with various youths just lingering in the background and boys on bikes this gives the negative representation that youth have nothing better to do than linger around and dont have any else better to do, Identifying the collective as a waste of space. He then goes on to mention hes got a hoodie on give him a hug, on second thoughts we dont want to get mugged this is derived from David Cameroons hug a hoodie campaign which is meant to stereotype all youths with hoodies are violent and criminals which leads to the connotation being negative and giving the youth collective who wear hoddies the representation of all being criminals and violent. We then see a low angle shot of a boy with a beer can in his hand and spitting towards the camera this is to say that he has hierarchy or more power over the outsider which turns out to be ironic as the connotation with living in a estate is that youre on a low income and in reality other people are looking down on them Which leads to the negative representation towards people living in this environment. We then see another long shot of various individuals in the car park. We can also a red flare the connotations of the colour red is danger, distress and anger. This leads us to believe they the youth could potentially be dangerous and an angry generation which leads to a negative representation of youth being deviant and anti-social. We then see a quick animation of a dog eating David Cameroon and excreting him back out this is a metaphor which insists all politics is rubbish and not true this gives the politicians a negative representation towards the lower class and that they dont agree with his thoughts as a collective which could be down to his conservative views. We then see two black children dancing together this shows that we are all normal and that every youth is not the same and that we do have talents and ambitions which have been covered up by

the Medias representation on youth. This gives off a positive representation towards youth saying that they do have ambitions and aspirations and they are not all lost causes. Ben drew goes on to continue to say that were all drinkers, drug takers and every one of us buns the herb this is in reference to the upper class believing that youth from a urban background are all drug abusers which leads to this stereotype being broadcasted to society showing the collective negatively. When looking at ben drews body language in the video it is generally angry and we see him doing hand gestures that attempt get people to come closer and have a look this links to the representation of youth and the stories that are stated in the papers and he is telling them to come in and have a look and giving them what they want even though he knows its not accurate this gives outsiders who have no experience of this social demographic a negative representation as to being fickle and being dominantly influenced by the media which makes them out to be socially un experienced. We then see go on to see clips of rich people fighting with people of a different class this shows that its not only the one class who are violent and that there is conflict between the two classes Which gives society an overall representation of being in a time of social decay. Further on throughout the video we see an old lady being pushed through, this states that there is a high level of community support which is based on the social deprivation issue within the establishment this leads to the collective being a friendly and go against the negative stereotypes. We then go on to see a long shot of a group of youths around the community centre with Ben Drews voice in the background saying who closed down the community centre this shows that kids arent naturally being on the streets and due to the closure of centres they have been lead to the streets as an alternative which gives of the representation them actually wanting to be socially active and engaging but cant be due to the lack of support.
