1. Which image of change and change outcomes are being used by Mr.
Haji (2nd paragraph end, image of managing is shaping while image
of change outcomes is intended), when compared with his son?

In this situation Mr. haji acted like a director he had clear goals and due to his
power, he managed his team to achieve that goal instead of their resistance. He
was also a navigator; he was expecting the unexpected goal but he planned for
this goal very carefully. On the same hand he behaved like a coach and nurture,
in order to achieve the goal, he encouraged their involvement too he build
employees capacity gave them chance to learn in their respective modes.
In Haji’s context the change outcome was intended but few things like
employees resistance was un intended.

Haji’s son was more in director mode as he was the manager, he used his power
and command to introduce the system of his choice and keep good control over
it. He was more in controlling image.
2. Identify the leadership style of both Mr. Haji and his son (both used
engaging).

In Haji’s context, he engaged employees in communication, influencing,


developing and motivating them he used engaging style. His style of leader ship
is also a transformational as he transformed the motivational and skill level of
his employees.
As far as haji’s son is concerned, he involved and influence his employees but
through power, he was not in shaping mode so the leadership style of haji’s son
Authoritative or autocrat.

3. Which change philosophy is being in discussion in complete change


process (consider both Mr. Haji and his ancestor’s eras)?

Psychological theory was being discussed. As haji involved, motivate his


employees. He planned trainings for his employees to shape their behavior and
attitude. Human factor was involved in this change and become cause of haji’s
success. Though haji was an illiterate person but he has great experience to deal
the human resource and capture the market he prepared his team for action and
get success. His son acted in opposite direction. He didn’t prepare his team nor
he trained them regarding new technology and practices so he faced the failure.

4. Using The Smythe Dorward Lambert approach which all tents of


change are being discussed in the case?
A simplified and process-driven management team, up-skilled and motivated
employees, enhanced working relationships within the firm, visible and strong
leadership which is clear and directional. New procedures and working
practices that would be more effective and customer focused were being
discussed
