Passive : The sentence above can not be changed into passive form because slept is
intransitive verb (kata kerja yang tidak memerlukan obyek).
Task 1. Read the text below, then answer the questions! (LKS page 85)
Electricity is used as a way of moving energy from place to place. It can take energy from
burning coal in a power station into your home. Electricity is required for so many devices in
our homes and at our places of work that we need a way of getting the energy to travel.

Bogor is a City in northern Java Island, Indonesia. it is the part of West Java Province. Together
with Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, the City is included in the Jabodetabek
metropolitan area. Bogor has been known as the ‘Rain City’ of Indonesia and ‘Buitenzorg
City’. the City stretches across 118,5 km2 areas. Bogor is World famous for its Bogor Botanical
Garden, a Conservation site for several plants and animals.
The City was Born in June 3rd 1482, when Padjadjaran Kingdom was existed in West Java. You
can see the city’s Landmarks such as Tugu Kujang, Prasasti Batu Tulis, Cimahpar Integrated
Conservation Offices, Telaga Cikeas, etc. Bogor City is surrounded by several Mounts like
Gunung Gede, and Gunung Halimun Salak.

Earthquake is one of natural disaster that destroying a certain area the most. It recently happens
in Tasikmalaya, West Java Province. Earthquakes are caused by suddenly breaks of
underground rock along a fault. This sudden release a huge amount of seismic waves Energy.
The ground will be shaken when it happen. When two plates or two blocks of rock are rubbing
against each other, they will be sticked together. But they don’t slide smoothly.
The rocks are not moving but still pushing against each other. After several times, the rocks will
be broken due to all the pressure that’s built up. When those rocks break, the earthquakes
happen. This is horrible and we have to maintain our Environment, so there will be no
earthquakes happen.

Task 5. Create dialogues based on the following descriptions.
Underline passive voices which you make in the dialogue.
1. You and your friend are talking about global warming; the causes, the effects and its
solutions. Use some passive voices in your conversation.
2. Dian and Tito are talking about the importance of technology for human. Dian explains that
technology is really helpful and makes life easier. However, Tito says that using technology
also brings bad effect, so it is important to use technology wisely.
Use some passive voices in this conversation.
Answer
1. Me: Today is so hot right?
My Friend: yeah, it’s so hot! What do you think about the weather these days?
Me: I think it’s because of global warming. Our earth is made so hot by global warming.
My Friend: what?! Global warming? What is that?
Me: Oh really? You don’t know what is global warming? Let me tell you. Global warming is a
process of increasing the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere, sea and land.
My friend: Oh okay. So tell me why is global warming happen?.
Me: Global warming happen because carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants and greenhouse
gases collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that we have bounced off
the earth’s surface.
My friend: Owh, is global warming have the effects?.
Me: Yeah of course global warming have the effects.
My friend: Are the effects dangerous for us?.
Me: yeah. Because global warming stresses ecosystems through temperature rises, water shortages,
increased fire threats, drought, weed and pest invasions, intense storm damage and salt invasion,
just to name a few. Some of Australia’s great natural icons, such as the Great Barrier Reef, are

My friend: Oh my god. But we can prevent this global warming right?.
Me: Yaa, there are many solutions to prevent global warming. We can plant trees, create more
sustainable transportation habits, lower our heating bill, divest from coal, and encourage others to
