Pay attention to the following lesson (How passive voice is formed).

General Pattern: S + to be + V3 (past participle)

1. Simple Present Tense.

Notes: S O
1. Subject in active sentence becomes object in passive sentence.
2. Object in active sentence becomes subject in passive sentence.
3. Passive voice is only used in transitive verb/kata kerja yang memerlukan obyek.

Example :
Active : I slept lately last night.
v
Passive : The sentence above can not be changed into passive form because slept is
intransitive verb (kata kerja yang tidak memerlukan obyek).

Other examples of passive voice.


1. My mother gives me a book (Active)

2. People speak English all over the world. (Active)


English is spoken all over the world (by people) (Passive)
Note: by people can be omitted because it is indefinite pronoun.
Other indefinite pronouns such as: people, person, someone, somebody, anybody, nobody.
3. Nobody opens the door for me. (Active). Nobody bermakna negative, maka jika diubah
menjadi kalimat pasif menjadi kalimat negatif
The door isn’t opened for me (by somebody). (Passive)

Why do We See So Many Pylons?

Electricity is used as a way of moving energy from place to place. It can take energy from
burning coal in a power station into your home. Electricity is required for so many devices in
our homes and at our places of work that we need a way of getting the energy to travel.
Giant masts which are called pylons have been erected all over the country. They are
connected by powerful electrical cables. Energy travels down these cables at about 250,000
kilometers a second which is almost as fast as the speed of light,

Bagas : I am reading an article about Covid 19.
Jenny : How is the recent news? Are the victims increasing fastly?
Bagas : Sure because it is spread by virus. This virus mainly spreads from person to person.
Most of the time it spreads when a sick person coughs or sneezes. They can spray
droplets as few as 6 feet away. If someone breathes in or swallows them, the virus can
get into his body.
Jenny : How dangerous is the disease?
Bagas : Very dangerous because it can cause respiratory tract infection. And in some cases
they can cause death.
Jenny : How do we know that someone infected by this disease?
Bagas : He will show some symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath. Early symptoms
are much like those of common cold, but the virus can lead to pneumonia, respiratory
failure and in few cases, septic shock. If a person is exposed an infected, symptoms
can show up in as few as 2 days or as many as 14 days. It varies from person to
person.
Jenny : What should we do to avoid this disease?
Bagas : Wash your hands often or clean them with hand sanitizer, use mask, keep distance,
keep health, consume vitamin C, consume nutritious food and take enough rest.

Bogor is a City in northern Java Island, Indonesia. it is the part of West Java Province. Together

Earthquake is one of natural disaster that destroying a certain area the most. It recently happens
in Tasikmalaya, West Java Province. Earthquakes are caused by suddenly breaks of
underground rock along a fault. This sudden release a huge amount of seismic waves Energy.
The ground will be shaken when it happen. When two plates or two blocks of rock are rubbing
against each other, they will be sticked together. But they don’t slide smoothly.
The rocks are not moving but still pushing against each other. After several times, the rocks will
be broken due to all the pressure that’s built up. When those rocks break, the earthquakes
happen. This is horrible and we have to maintain our Environment, so there will be no

Me: yeah. Because global warming stresses ecosystems through temperature rises, water shortages,
increased fire threats, drought, weed and pest invasions, intense storm damage and salt invasion,

tecgnology for people.
Dian: Hey bro, I think tecgnology is useful for people in this period. We can still communicate with
our family or friends who far away from us with chatting or calling them. We can also search
many information from google. Our life is easier because of technology.
Tito: Yaa, I know that our life is made easier by technology, but I think there are also many bad
effects for us. For example, because of media social, we take more time with our handphone
than
with our friends or family. By social media, the kids who under age can search something bad
like pornography or bullying. Their parents also can not control their children everytime.

Now, people are so need technology in their life, for communicate with their family or their
college of bussines. We can not to oppose that we need technology in our life.
