What is the Climate
Change and Global
Warming?
Climate Change
and Global
Warming
● Climate Change refers to the change in
temperature of the earth, rainfall distribution,
and drastic changes of the winds.

● Global Warming a gradual increase in the

overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere
generally attributed to the greenhouse effect
caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide,
CFCs, and other pollutants.
Main Causes of Climate Change
Waste Deforestation
When waste decomposes, Living trees absorb and
methane gas and carbon store carbon dioxide
dioxide is released

Intensive agriculture Burning of fossil fuel

Which emits greenhouse gases When fossil fuels are burned, they
like methane and nitrogen release large amounts of carbon
oxide dioxide and nitrogen oxide

Greenhouse
effects
How it happened ?
1.When sunlight enters the atmosphere of the earth, some
of the light will be reflected back into space of infrared rays
(yellow arrow)

2. However, most are infrared rays are trapped in

atmosphere and absorbed by the greenhouse gases such as
carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and
chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)

3. Therefore, heat energy that is not reflected keeps the

earth at an average temperature so it is not too cold for the
survival of organisms.

4.Even so, the human activities are increasing the levels of

greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which is trapping
extra heat and increasing the Earth’s temperature.
• Maintains sea level and prevents the melting of ice

• The rays of sunlight help to maintain the temperature

of the earth

• Preserve the life forms on Earth

• Help in the growth of crops

Positive • The greenhouse gases help block the harmful

solar radiation from
reaching planet’s surface.

effect
Negative effects
Due to melting glaciers and sea ice and an increase in
Sea level Rise ocean temperatures (warmer water expands, which can
contribute to sea level rise).

Causing more frequent and/or intense extreme weather

events, including heat waves, hurricanes, droughts and
Extreme Weather Conditions floods. (eg : El Nino and La Nina)

This makes wet regions wetter and dry

Increased Precipitation regions drier.

Shifting the geographic ranges, seasonal activities,

migration patterns, and abundance of land, freshwater,
Risks To The Nature and marine species.
El Nino La Nina

El Nino phenomenon causes La Nina phenomenon causes

extreme hot and dry weather unusual heavy rain which
which results in draught results in a serious flood

Ways to reduce
Greenhouse Gases
Green Energy Plant more trees No plastic
 plastic breaks down into more
renewable energy removing carbon dioxide
methane and ethylene when
resources such as wind from the air, and releasing
burned. Therefore by
and solar oxygen into the
implementing this in daily life,
energy eliminates the atmosphere
less greenhouse gases will be
emission of carbon dioxide
produced
in the air
