1. How has the pandemic impacted on the motorcycle industry here and abroad?

How does the association MDPPA plan to rise and overcome the challenges?
 Our theme today “Rising above and beyond the current challenges” is not only a rallying cry
but an apt description of what will ignite us to more action. It sparks our fire to continue
delivering the results despite of the current challenges of the pandemic.
 We will revisit MDPPA Vision – a picture of a healthy industry growth and deliver this
vision to the society. We shall ensure that the motorcycle industry is well placed to benefit
from even more investment in production, bolster our domestic supply chain and ensure
people with the right skills are available to support a growing and nationally important
industry.
 We will review and set our roadmap, strategies and actions aligned with MDPPA Vision; and
secure the next stage in the growth of the industry.

2. During the induction of MDPPA officers, there was mention of a 4-point Agenda of the
Association for 2021. How was the group's achievement based on the four points?

1. Proactive involvement and participation in policy formulation and rule-making,


and international commitments

The Government's commitment to industry development strategies is evident. However, the


industry takes its thrust to engage proactively in the formulation of government policies that are
more attuned to the concerns of the industry. Disseminate and update regularly relevant
information to ensure members’ ease of compliance with laws, policies and standards Assist the
government more aggressively towards the execution of international commitments such as the
newly signed Automotive Products Mutual Recognition Arrangement or APMRA.

2. Sustained and coordinated RS Promotion

Motorcycles are gaining an increased degree of popularity due to its advantages – affordability,
better fuel efficiency, environmentally friendly, flexibility in traffic and increased riding
enjoyment.

However, all the plusses are negated by the issue of road safety and criminality. And these are
some of the major factors inhibiting the wide acceptance of the 2 wheelers.
We will engage to raise the level of awareness on road safety by addressing the negative
perceptions and impacts of motorcycle; and support government initiatives on road safety
campaign

3. Proactive approach on Electric Vehicle industry development

With the new emerging alternative energy vehicle, MDPPA takes active participation in
discussions and sharing information to knowing the impact of the EV industry to the motorcycle
industry, likewise, to conduct capacity building on EVs for its future directions on EV.

4. Heighted publicity on MDPPA

There is a need to uphold MDPPA as a recognized authority and leader in the motorcycle
industry to generate more interests and attention. MDPPA shall take actions to increase the level
of awareness on the motorcycle and be always connected with our stakeholders to convey the
advantages of our industry.

We need to intensify media hype in partnership with notable networks in the publication and
broadcast industry and emphasize the positive side of motorcycle industry

3. We've noticed a renewed vigor in the MDPPA's Road Safety Campaign. How was the
implementation of the Road Safety Campaign in 2021?

MDPPA Road Safety Campaign which consists of the following:


1. MDPPA Table Talks where we gather key opinion leaders and experts in road safety
conversations.
2. Generation Road Safety Table which is a collection of ordinary people's road safety
stories. It features real people and gives road incident survivors, motorcycle or car
enthusiasts, and road safety advocates the platform to share their stories.
3. Virtual Road Safety Seminars for School Children, Teens and Riders which
implementation support reaching out to the stakeholders to increase awareness of road
safety among the community and road users.

4. What kind of support would you like to solicit from


 Government agencies, like DTI, BOI, LTO, Congress?
 Media?

5. What would be your message to the motorcycle community who have continued to patronize
the industry?

6. How did the members reacted to the pandemic, in terms of providing assistance to the
frontliners, as well as the general public?

7. What was/were significant and unforgetable event(s) in your company in 2021?

8. What the people should expect from MDPPA in 2022?
