FROM: The Scholarship Committee of Yankee Heritage Tole Chapter, an affiliated


chapter of the National Society of Decorative Painters.
The Society of Decorative Painters defines decorative painting as “a diverse art form that utilizes a
variety of techniques and media to decorate both functional and non-functional surfaces.”
Approached with creativity, discipline and craftsmanship, contemporary decorative painting offers
opportunities for artistic self-expression and creative satisfaction.

REGARDING: The Dolly Lancaster Art Award: A non-renewable Five Hundred dollar
($500.00) book award given to a graduating senior who will be majoring in visual arts.

This award was established in 1992 to recognize outstanding artistic achievement by a


graduating senior of a New England High School who will be continuing his/her
education with plans to major in the visual arts. It was re-named in 2006 in memory of
Dolly, a board member Emeritus and one of the founding members of our chapter. It is a
non-renewable award maintained by the Yankee Heritage Tole Chapter of New England,
a group of professional and non-professional decorative painting society members.

A certificate of award acknowledgement will be presented to the scholar recipient at the


June Chapter meeting. Upon receipt of proof of successful completion of the first
semester’s study, a non-renewable award of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) will be
presented to the student and acknowledged at the following year’s January meeting.

The purpose of this award is to encourage the further study of the visual arts and is
available yearly.

Students who wish to apply for this award must complete the enclosed application and
submit it to the scholarship chair by April 20, 2022.

Dolly Lancaster Art Award

Qualifications:
Applicant must be a graduating senior of a New England high school who will be
continuing his/her education with a major in the visual arts

Requirements:
1. Completed application form
2. Student resume
3. Official transcript of grades
4. Two (2) letters of recommendation attesting to applicant’s goals and art ability
5. Portfolio: consisting of five (5) reprints, no larger than 8”x10 of applicant’s
original artwork. Label back of each print with the applicant’s name, title of
artwork, medium, and dimensions. Failure to label artwork will lead to
disqualification.
6. If sending files on a CD or DVD, please use PDF format and include labeling as
defined in #5 above, for each file.
7. The artwork must show proficiency in at least three (3) different media.

Submission Deadline:
A complete application package must be received by the scholarship chair no later than
April 20, 2022.

An incomplete application will lead to disqualification.

All applicants will be notified of their status by June 6, 2022.
