ABSTRACT

Dahlan by Khrisna Pabichara. English Departement, Faculty Teacher Training and
Education Science, Victory University Sorong.
Literature is a term used to describe written or oral material. This term is most
often used to refer to the work of creative imagination, including works of poetry,drama,
fiction, and non-fiction, One type of literary work is novel. The nove gives a lot of value
for everyone. One of the values contained in the novel is the value of heroism. Heroic
value is a struggle attitude or behavior that has the quality and service of dedication and
sacrifice to the nation and state. The value of heroism in the present can be seen from
one’s actions. One of the novels that contains heroic values is the Sepatu Dahlan by
Khrisna Pabichara.
Novel Sepatu Dahlan is Dahlan’s biography novel, a former minister. This novel
tells the story of Dahlan’s struggle for life when he was a teenager. Dahlan was born to a
proof family in the village of Kebon Dalem. This novel can be an effective medium for
optimizing the cultivation of education values, especially education character. The
problems examined in this study are what heroic values are found in Dahlan’s shoe
novel by Khrisna Pabichara and what is their relevance to character education values at
junior high school level.
This research uses qualitative research, with descriptive methods. The result of this
study indicate that the heroic value in the novel Sepatu Dahlan is fighting spirit, never
giving up, hard worker, soul of leader, willing to sacrifice, and love. The character
education that is relevant to heroic values is as follows: religious, tolerance, honesty,
discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democrative, curiosity, national spirit, love
for the country, respect for achievement, friendship, love of reading, caring for the
enviroment, and responsible. The relevance of heroism to character education and the
value of character education at the junior high school level.
