Structure of Internship

Instructions to be followed:

1. No extensions shall be provided for submissions. The submissions must be made by the end
of the day i.e., 11:59 p.m. on the given date. Submissions made otherwise WILL NOT be
considered.
2. The word limit for the blog/case comment is 1500 words. Less than 1500 will not be accepted.
You can extend it up to 1800 words and not more than that.
3. Your plagiarism shall not exceed 15%. Any submission that exceeds the prescribed limit will
be rejected and no resubmissions will be allowed.
4. Abbreviated form of any word in the blog/case comment is strictly prohibited.
5. Use of a particular tense in the entire blog/case comment is required.
6. Hyperlink any data or institution or international organization name which is used in the
blog/case comment. (Refer point no. 12 in case you do not know how to hyperlink)
7. Stick to the structures provided for research. Have a critical and suggestive mindset, so that
your blog/case comment is a step ahead of the other submissions on a similar topic.
- A standard blog should have the following structure:
Introduction, Historical Background, Status quo, Opinion & Suggestions, Conclusion. (Back
it all up with case laws if any and relate the topic to the laws of India or make a comparison
of Indian laws with other country laws and come up with a new model in suggestions.)
- Case comment outline should be as follows:
After thoroughly reading the allotted case, the analysis and comment should be very
simple and to the point. Follow FIRJC method- Facts, Issues, Reasoning of the Court (only
write court’s answers to the issues in question, do not write contentions of the parties),
Judgment (the final order), and the Comment (your elaborate opinion with a conclusion).
- News Article outline should be as follows:

After thoroughly reading the allotted news, give a brief introduction of the topic, followed
by a summary explanation of the Intellectual Property Law associated with the topic (for
instance new variety of Basmati has been given GI, first give a background on what is
Geographical Indications), explanation of the news, concluding with your
comments/analysis/recommendation/suggestion and conclusion.

8. Follow Bluebook Citation Style, the 20th Edition. (Link mentioned below)
9. DO NOT make ENDNOTES/REFERENCES. Kindly ONLY make FOOTNOTES (Ctrl+Alt+F)
10. To avoid grammatical errors, please do run your blog/case comment through Grammarly or
any other online grammar-checking website before submitting it.
11. After the blog is completed, change the title of the blog. It CAN NOT be more than 65
CHARACTERS. Please note that the topic cannot be changed, only the title can be changed into
something that explains your blog in a better way.
12. The author should write their details (name, year of study and university/college; if graduated-
name and current profession) and bio below the title of blog/case comment and hyperlink the
name with their LinkedIn ID (if you have a LinkedIn account, otherwise hyperlinking your name
is not required).
How to hyperlink? Copy the URL of the website → Select the words you want to hyperlink →
left-click → select ‘link’ from the options (a globe icon appears) → a dialogue box will appear
→ paste the copied URL in the ‘address’ column → Press OK. Hyperlinking will be done and
the hyperlinked words will appear in underlined blue letters. To edit/open/copy/remove
hyperlinks you have to left-click on the hyperlinked words and you’ll find the required options.
13. While submitting, your file name should be written as: First name_Submission No. in Roman
Number. Example: Vijetha_I (II/III)
14. Submissions are to be made to the SAME EMAIL THREAD throughout your internship. Fresh
mail submissions will not be considered. The subject of the email must be written as
‘Submission- Intern IC-IPL February’. Submissions to wrong email IDs WILL NOT be
considered.

The fourth submission shall be made on a different email with the subject ‘Submission- Intern
IC-IPL February (Blog/Journal/Chapter)’ as per what you choose.
15. After submission, you may receive your file to make the necessary changes and resubmit. Only
one resubmission after making the changes is allowed. Submission will be rejected if it has to
be sent for changes more than once. Upon receiving any such email, please incorporate the
required changes carefully and resubmit within 10 hours.
16. When changes are being sent, please correct in the same document sent and DO NOT remove
the associated comment. If you think any comment is unreasonable/wrong etc., add in the
response under the comment.
17. Submission/Non-submission please make the entry Yes/No in the respective column on the
spreadsheet. I pasted the link of the spreadsheet on the WhatsApp groups’ description
column as well for easy access.
18. After final submissions, please be patient until your publication is done. There is a process we
follow at our end and there are many interns that are working. Any publication-related
information will directly be communicated to you by me only. Until then, your patience will
be very much appreciated.
19. Certificate of Internship will be issued only to those who submit all the assigned work and at
least two of the submissions are published. In the event of failure of submission of assigned
work for two weeks, the intern may be dismissed by the end of the second non-submission
week. (By this I mean, any two of the submissions must be publishable works. All submissions
go for publication if they are approved. So please make submissions carefully conforming to
all the given guidelines. Also, please note that we DO NOT charge for submissions made in the
first three weeks.)
20. Although e-certificates will be awarded to eligible interns, there is also an option to avail a
hard copy of the certificate at ₹500 (inclusive of processing and postal charges all over India).
Please note that this is an option only and can be availed by intimating the head.

Fourth Week Submission Guidelines:

As I mentioned during the induction session, the fourth-week topics will not be allotted and can be
chosen. You are open to choose any topic under Intellectual Property Rights only. Please select your
desired topic and make an entry in the spreadsheet. Check if anybody else has already chosen the
topic or not. The sooner you choose the topic, the more time will be available for research and writing.
This submission is a journal publication submission. Only one-time submission- No resubmissions are

allowed. Since we do not give any remuneration to interns, we provide 50% off on the publication fee
that we charge (only for interns). Below are the guidelines to be followed for your research paper to
be eligible for journal publication in the upcoming issue.

1. Manuscript with a Plagiarism of more than 15% will not be accepted and shall be rejected at
any stage of processing. In a case where the submission is found to be plagiarized after the
publication, it shall be retracted immediately and the author will be duly informed.

2. The word limit for Research Papers is 2500 – 5000 words inclusive of footnotes.

3. The body of the manuscript shall be in Times New Roman and size 12, with 1.5 line spacing,
justified with no Borders.

4. The footnotes shall be in Times New Roman and size 10, with single line spacing, justified.

5. Margins: Left 1.5 Inch, Right 1 Inch, Top 1 Inch, and Bottom 1 Inch.

6. Submissions must conform to the BLUEBOOK (19th or 20th Edition) style of citation.

7. The manuscript should be accompanied by a Cover Letter specifying the author’s name,
designation, institute, contact number, and email address for future reference. (Authors are
requested not to put their name anywhere in the main manuscript).

8. Upon submission, the manuscript shall be the property of Law Essentials Journal. On
subsequent reproduction, the authors would be required to credit the original publication in
the Journal. The organization reserves the right to reproduce, publish and distribute any
manuscript submitted for publication in all media, including but not limited to electronic and
print media.

9. The manuscripts not abiding by any of the above guidelines are liable to be rejected.
