II.ESSAYS: Share your thoughts on the following statements.

1. How do the arts relate to spirituality and religion?

In many religion art is used to reflect their theological system such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Christian
Catholics and orthodox. There some denominations of Christianity that is against the use of arts as
an instrument of worship since they believe it goes against the commandments of God on
forbidding graven images. Well the use of art in religion help the senses to be aware of their
theological belief and systems because the human mind has the tendency to be forgetful hence they
need a reminder of what is the right thing to do.

2. Can animals be artists?

There are circulating videos that an elephant caught painting a picture on a canvas they have been
endowed a special skill that could be possibly trained by humans. Their piece of artwork can be labelled
as unique because of the origin that it not made of human hands but of an animal. Whether the piece of
artwork is made by an animal or a human it is still a subject for aesthetic experience and judgement and
can still be appreciated. Yes animals can be considered artist but the human way of producing artwork is
far advanced than of an animal and yet the artwork made by an animal can still attract a lot of
astonishment of who on earth could expect that an animal could do as humans can do such as producing
a piece of artwork in a canvas.
3. Why aren't natural objects works of art? Or are they?
To those who believe that there is a super-intelligent being that is God I could say that the natural
objects can be considered an art since it springs from the skill and given purpose by God. In the nature
we can see its orderly sequence and this we could think that this is designed for a proper purpose and
not just a random thing that exist immediately. If a complicated clock we think of its intelligent designer
then how much more of the nature who had the system on their own that could make sense If we study
in their nature. Therefore, I could say that natural objects such as the seas, mountains, rivers, etc. is the
work of a super-intelligent being, God.
