• Design responsibility: Determine profile, depth and thickness of metal decking, types,
sizes, number and spacing of fixings, stiffening around openings and cleader angles to
gables.
• Structural and fire requirements:
- Generally: As section B50.
- Modifications: None.
- Design: Complete the design in accordance with the designated code of practice to
satisfy specified performance criteria.
• Functional requirements: As specified in this section.
• Additional requirements: None.
• Design and production information: As Preliminaries section A33.
• Timing of submissions: As Preliminaries section A33.

175 STRUCTURAL DESIGN PROVIDED

• Description: Refer to Structural Engineers Specification.
• Requirements:

180 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS FOR DECKING

• Material: Steel, Grade S350 GD + Z275 to BS EN 10326.
• Depth of profile: Contractor's choice.
• Soffit finish: PVF2 - White.
• Maximum allowable deflection: Refer to Structural Engineers Specification.
• Sound transmittance: Not required.
• Accessories: None.

FIXING DECKING

220 PAINTING STRUCTURE

• Sequence: Before the decking is attached paint surfaces of supporting structure that will be
subsequently inaccessible.

230 PREVENTION OF ELECTROLYTIC ACTION

• Isolating tape: Type recommended by decking manufacturer.
- Location: To contact surfaces of supports and sheets of dissimilar metals.

240 FIRE RESISTING PROFILE FILLERS

• Supplier: Decking manufacturer.
• Type/ shape: To match decking profile void.
• Location: To perimeter of openings.
• Fixing: Fit securely, as recommended by manufacturer, to form fire compartment.

260 FIXING DECKING GENERALLY

• Cut sheets: Clean edges with true lines and no burrs.
- Treatment of edges: As recommended by manufacturer.
• Penetrations: Cut openings to the minimum size necessary.
- Edge reinforcement: As recommended by manufacturer .
Fixings: Drill all holes.
• Cleanliness: Remove debris from within decking construction.
• Installation: Seams and ribs of deck must be parallel, with no damage to deck coating.

285 ATTACHMENT OF DECKING AND ACCESSORIES

• Scope of Contactor's design: Types, sizes, number and spacing of fixings for deck and
accessories.
• Requirement: To resist specified wind load.
