This is a short a short animated story that explains in clear language the essential

elements of Project Based Learning (PBL). And what it is like.

This simple animated stories makes the essential elements of PBL come alive
and brings to light the 21st Century skills and competencies (collaboration,
communication, critical thinking) that will enable students to be and work-ready
as well as effective members of their communities.
1. You remember what is like to be in school. // It was boring!

2. You sat in class, // memorized as much as you could and tried to pass the test at
the end. //

3. But is that good enough?

4. These days school can be more interesting and effective.

5. By focusing students on work that matters.

6. And this is PROJECT BASED LEARNING explained.

7. Most adults live in a world of projects. Whether, it's a job assignment, // home
improvement// or planning a wedding, //we need to actively solve problems.

8. But unfortunately, school works looks more like// this than this. //

9. So, let’s take a look at this Project Based World.

10. Meet Claire, she was recently presented with a challenge.//

11. Her company, Super Suds, makes soap// and but it was up to her to find the most
earth-friendly way to produce it in the future.

12. Her boss gave her a budget // and a few requirements //and it was up to her to
come up with a solution.//

13. She organized //and managed a team// who research the options and Created
materials summarizing the issues.

14. Claire's team asked for //feedback //and presented their findings to the boss.

15. Claire came out of the project looking like a rock-star and now she learned a lot
about green products.

16. If you look closely, Claire's success involved critical thinking, //collaboration// and
communication.//

17. Things that aren't often taught in traditional classrooms.

18. The world needs// more Claire.//So how do we get them?

19. The answer is Project Based Learning or PBL.

20. By focusing students on a project, // teachers put them on a path// that deepens
their knowledge//, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and builds skills
they'll need in the future.

Here's what I mean.

1. Mrs. Tabal has always been a good science teacher

2. And her students do well on Friday's tests.

3. But unfortunately, what they learned// is gone by Saturday morning.//

4. That wasn't good enough for her.

5. Then soon she learned about Project Based Learning and decided to give it a
shot.

6. Mrs. Tabal got the idea for his first project, on MIROORGANISMS, // when nearly
half of her students// were suddenly absent with the flu. //

7. She asked his students why they thought so many of their classmates got sick at
the same time. //

8. That lively discussion// produced a lot of good questions// and a list of things that
students wanted to know. //

9. Mrs. Tabal then announced their project was to help elementary school kids
understand, ///How can we not get sick?

10. After dividing the class into teams, // she got them started on the project.//

11. It was up to the students to ask questions, // research, //collaborate,// give each
other feedback and figure out //the best ways // to make their points clear to
children.//

12. One team chose to make an educational video on the connection between hand
washing

13. And avoiding the flu. //

14. Another chose to create posters// to show how viruses spread and how it will be
prevented.

15. The project teams showed off their final work to an enthusiastic audience of
parents and their children at a nearby elementary school. //

16. Sitting in the front row was our good friend and local rock star Claire, who saw a
bit of herself in the students. //

17. It was clear that the project was a success for the students, // the audience //and
Mrs. Tabal.

18. Her students practiced critical thinking, // collaboration // and communication.

19. The project wasn't about memorization, but learning in-depth about viruses and
how to prevent spreading disease.//

20. A lesson they will never forget.

21. At the end of the presentation, Claire introduced herself to the students and told
them that they were rock stars. And that the world needs more people who can
think like them.

What is PBL?

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by

actively engaging them in real-world and personally meaningful projects. Wherein
teachers make learning come alive for students.

It is important to actively engage student to a particular task or challenge na dili lang

simply about anang mga sag-o sag-o or suwat suwat rata kay there’s this possibility na
it will go in vain, mawala ra dayon unlike this project based learning you engages the
students in learning and experiences that is deep and long-lasting.

As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking,

collaboration, creativity, and communication skills which unleashes a contagious,
creative energy among students and teachers.

And through Project Based Learning All students should have access to quality Project
Based Learning to deepen their learning and achieve success in college, career, and
life. Why PBL? Because Project Based Learning works. It engages students in learning
that is deep and long-lasting. PBL can be transformative for students – especially those
farthest from educational opportunity.
Or can be transformative for students, transformative meaning able to cause an
important and lasting change in someone or something especially to those farthest from
educational opportunity. I know not all of us in this world has educational opportunity.
And Because Now more than ever, we need young people who are ready, willing, and
able to tackle the challenges of their lives and the world they will inherit - and nothing
prepares them better than Project Based Learning.

Alnie

I learned that PBL is a must to be applied in a curriculum because Project Based Learning works! and it
engages students in learning that is deep and long-lasting that in the classroom it should not be about
written works or simply memorizing texts but rather expose students to a specific challenge or
collaborative activities to enhance their skills.

Thank you Alnie for sharing, its good insight. And Yes, Students who engage into PBL can gain
skills valuable in today’s workplace and in life, such as how to take initiative, work responsibly,
solve problems, collaborate in teams, and communicate ideas.

Roselyn

I realized that project based learning helps develop a broader set of knowledge and skills that it is not
about just memorization or just simple test but a student must engage into a skillful and collaborative
projects inorder to enhance their critical thinking and abilities

Thank you ate Roselyn, it’s a very good sharing, you got the same idea of what Alnie had said a while
ago.
