ANS:1.1
Yes, In my perception I think the military personnel can exhibit the best
qualities to be an organizational leader. They are the ones who have
been trained, have experienced can perform any task, can easily handle
difficult situation. These military person have the leadership qualities
and traits such as self-control, decisiveness and responsibility. Leader
need to be disciplined and keep the commitments they make, are
creative and flexible and order and control the employees. They have the
ability to handle stressful situations and still stay focused on their work,
which helps the business in its growth and being successful. When
focusing on deadlines and important projects they can easily assign the
task to employees and get things done quickly without any conflict and
delay.
The ability to make informed decisions based on available information
and experience is vital in which military man are experts. Decision
concerning logistics, planning and operations are important which are to
be kept in mind.

Everywhere whether its govt job, business to another business their will
always be the difference in any two dissimilar field. So, in corporate
world there is vast difference in the leadership roles. They have to learn
compassion when dealing with employees as not everybody can sustain
the discipline, work culture, command, regularity, work deadlines as
they need to be encouraged simultaneously.
Coming from the military to workplace setting, I think they need to
understand that not everyone need to structure in same way, everyone
has their unique qualities, they should be motivated and let them
function according to their working style. Not all the coworkers are
having the same thought process, behave in same manner. They have to
learn how to communicate without offending anyone which they need to
get used of. Might sometimes it happen they coworkers are not obeying,
are chaotic, not using proper communication or gesture, here they did
not get harsh instead a good leadership quality is in which leader will be
able to recognize the issue and still be reform his leadership style to
accommodate the corporate world. They should be aware of labor law
and how it differs from the military is vital for effective leadership in the
private sector. In the military leaders can “order” members to stay late or
come in early to complete a task. But this is not the case in the private
sector, where if a supervisor mandates an employee stays late they are
required to compensate that employee for their time.
ANS:1.3.
I think that high stress jobs would probably benefit from having military
leadership, job which require more attention than a regular job. I would
agree that some situations that will be suitable for battle tested military
personnel to lead in a corporate industry. Time management and the
ability to handle stress and accomplish work in a given time frame. In
business world, military leaders are favorable where time sensitive
agendas, budget constrain, accuracy and efficiency and handle the
uncertainty that may arise could easily be dealt with. The ability to
juggle and manage enormous amounts of stress can be very beneficial
when a military men is behind the desk.
“Battle-tested” leaders benefit the organization they work for it is
evident in public service organizations, such as, police, fire, and
emergency medical departments. Military leaders have experience in
dealing with high stress, low frequency events, in which outcomes are
based on life and death. Leaders who are “battle-tested” can also be a
transformational leaders because they can have a dramatic effect on their
followers, and are able to provide experience in times of adversity.
Emergency management organizations get benefit from these leaders
who have “battle-tested” experiences. During an emergency situation the
ability to stay calm, cool, and collective under tremendous stress is vital
for any leader. “Battle-tested” leaders who work in the fire service have
the ability to focus on the task at hand, while also staying aware of
potential safety issues and changing conditions. During a CPR these
leaders give efforts and will utilize every available resource in order to
successfully rescue the individual in need. Military leader bring many
benefits and have the ability to ensure that their employees are effective
in their jobs.

Jobs such as: 1. Stocks or trade, they are high risk and stressful job that
would require attention to detail and competency.

2.Corporations, they need leaders who can lead them in getting


successful, rise and increase profits for the company and also look for
the interest of the company and its employees.

3. In Hospitals, military leaders will be able to develop a schedule,


which will be helpful in smooth operation, good work culture, empathy
towards the need of patients, reduce incompetency and delays in health
care department.

Agreeable generally means pleasing. Workplaces that
place extreme value on authority encourage this kind of behavior. Being
agreeable is otherwise a quality every employer rightly wants in an
employee. The word disagreeable means unpleasant, offensive, ill-
tempered. None of those words describe desirable traits in the
workplace. If one can disagree with one's employer and still be
agreeable, expressing disagreement does not automatically make
someone disagreeable. Person who is being disagreeable, even when
right, is not helpful. Just by way of example, I could be agreeable and
still suggest that this question needs to be reworded to make it more
effective. A disagreeable person by engaging in insults and personal
attacks. No one is going to appreciate the latter. Effective employers
cannot value harmony over success; every business is going to have
challenges and unpleasant events, and unaddressed issues which turn
into conflict, disharmony in the office over time. Employers can
encourage the open expression of ideas while also discouraging
disagreeable behavior.
Agreeableness is one of the big five personality traits. The person with
higher level of agreeableness tends to be more cooperative, supposed to
be liked more and tends to be more conforming and less aggressive. But
it is also believed that agreeable people tend to be less successful than
disagreeable people. But still after all the drawbacks of this traits, it
seems that employers tend to value people with agreeableness quality
because they are pleasant to be around even though they tend not to be
high performers in the company because they feel comfortable around
agreeable people. But there is contradiction, it would make no sense as
to why employers would want to hire people who are less successful or
show less excellence in their work when there are thousands of people
around the world who have skills better than an agreeable person waiting
for a vacancy to be hired. People get jobs in which they have pre-
requisite abilities and skills and knowledge. The employers may look for
agreeable people but the contradiction comes when the agreeable person
would be less productive at work that would cost organization heavy
damage such as financial damage and customer service and good will of
a company. Since we all know that one’s conduct is influenced by their
mood. So having an agreeable person around will change a disagreeable
person’s mood and that way they would be less unpleasant and still get
the job done. This would result in less contradictions among employers
to hire people who get the work done and be less unpleasant in their
behavior. It suggests that disagreeable people also like agreeable people
so organizations should have mixture of personalities of people which
will balance the work environment. By hiring people who are best at
their work and combining them with agreeable people to maintain the
harmony of the organization will be the best decision.

Ans:2.2
Agreeableness becomes a virtue when there is a stressful event going on
in an organization. When an organization is going under a crisis and the
problem requires an immediate solution. Then this kind of situation can
easily cause panic amongst workers and when this happens your mind
just goes blank and stops working and having unpleasant people around
only make the situation worse than it already is. If any agreeable person
is present there would try to make everyone calm and try to analyze the
situation and then come up with efficient solution. Hence an agreeable
person is so important in these problematic situation. The agreeable
people also tend to be better at handling customer services because they
are nice and easy to talk and generous and pleasant behavior. They can
even tolerate passive aggressive behavior of clients and just generally
tend to be welcoming to people. But sometimes being too agreeable
comes with its own side effects. People tend to take advantage of
agreeable people easily. Agreeable people are unable to reject and say
No to people even though they may be in disadvantage. They would
hardly say “No” to people and people take advantage of this by
manipulating them to steal their opportunities or promotions etc. Also
agreeableness turns out to be harmful when you are expected to get the
job done with excellence. Since research suggests that agreeable people
tend to be less successful, so it may pose a threat to even job status.
There were some kinds of jobs like Doctors, Customer service
representative, Nurses, Social worker, Teachers etc agreeableness is an
important virtue in these professions. For example a very annoyed and
furious customer came in and insulted the customer service
representative , in that job situation it doesn’t matter how much angry
the employee is because of that customer insulting behavior what
matters the most is agreeableness which is the basic personality trait
required by the organization for this job. You have to agree on what ever
customer says to ensure customer satisfaction as they are the king. If the
company is facing with intense competition or some employees had
made huge mistakes, agreeableness could be harmful and it may cost his
job. As the proverb says, mercy to the enemy is cruelty to yourself.
Everyone must take responsibility for what they do and there is no
excuse for them.
