Six famous philosopher What they can


teach us about modern societies?

1:ARISTOTLE
         ARISTOTLE was one of the most famous philosophers and
a pioneering figure in the history of philosophy. Aristotle also believe a
person," could achieved happiness through the use of intellect "and that
this was humanity’s   greatest potential. However he was believed that
being good was not enough we also act on our good intentions helping
by other.
2:CONFUCIUS
             Confucius was one of the most famous philosopher of the
Eastern history. we think of democracy as a greek invention ,however
Confucius was saying similar things about politics and power at the
same time
He  defended the ideas of an emperor he argue that the emperor must be
honest and that the respect of his subject He suggest that a good
Emperor must listen to his subject and  consider the ideas of any emperor
that did not do this was a tyrant and they are not worthy of the office. He
also developed a version of the golden rule and positive direction.
3:EPICURUS
      Epicurus often gets misrepresented .He has gained a
reputation for advocating self-indulgence and excess.
This is not a true portrayal of his ideas. He was more
focused on what lead to happy life and was against
selfishness and over indulgence however he did not see
the need to suffer unnecessarily. He argued that we live
wisely well and justly we live inevitably live a pleasant
life.
4:ZENO CITIUM
1.    Zeno argued that when we suffer it is merely and error
in our judgement that cause us to do so.
He suggested that our world is what we make of it and ,when we give
in to emotional weakness, we suffer

2. STOIC philosophy argued that when we do not let


anything upset us  we achieve perfect peace of mind.
It suggests that anything else only makes things worse. For example death is a
natural part of life , so why should we grieve when someone dies.

5:PLATO'S
         Plato's arrested that the world was appears to our
senses is defective but there is no more perfect from of
the world that there is eternal and changeless.
For example, thought many things on earth are beautiful ,they
derive their beauty from bigger idea or concept of beauty ,He called
these ideas.

 6:RENE DESCARTES
 Descartes is known as the father of modern philosophy.
 One of the most famous philosopher of the modern era
argue for the superiority of the mind over the body He
suggest that our stand lies in our ability to ignore the
weakness our bodies and rely on infinite power of the
mind.
 Descartes’s most famous statement, “I think, therefore I am” is now
virtually the motto of existentialism. This statement is not meant to
prove the existence of the body, but that of the mind

     We owe many ideas  to the famous philosopher of the past.
Some of them we not agree with them but it is true that they have
influenced Western societies for centuries " our religious and
scientific political structure have  profoundly influenced by these"
deep thinker we are still experiencing whether good or bad today.
