1. Define in your own opinion and differentiate the four (4) most employed types of
research mentioned below.

- A. Qualitative- It is the means of exploring and understanding the meaning of

individuals or groups ascribe to a social or human problem. Qualitative Research is a
narrative, it involves documentation, observation and interview. It also includes
collecting and analyzing non-numerical data (e.g., text, video, or audio) to
understand concepts, opinions, or experiences. It can be used to gather in-depth
insights into a problem or generate new ideas for research.

- B. Quantitative- it is defined as the testing of the objective theories by examining

the relationships between variables. It is also a method of generating inferences
about a process or phenomenon using quantifiable measurements of the
characteristics of various stakeholders involved. Quantitative research is based on
numbers, it can be used to find patterns and averages, make predictions, test causal
relationships, and generalize results to wider populations.

-C. Descriptive- it describes the characteristics of the population or phenomenon

studied. This methodology focuses more on the “what” of the research subject than
the “why” of the research subject. It primarily focuses on describing the nature of a
demographic segment, without focusing on “why” a particular phenomenon occurs.
In other words, it “describes” the subject of the research, without covering “why” it
happens.

-D. Action Research- it is a type of research by practitioners designed to help

improve their practice.  Action research may also be applied to programs or
educational techniques that are not necessarily experiencing any problems, but that
educators simply want to learn more about and improve. The general goal is to
create a simple, practical, repeatable process of iterative learning, evaluation, and
improvement that leads to increasingly better results for schools, teachers, or
programs.

2. Formulate a research topic you are interested in and familiar with.

“The levels of student engagement in blended learning in this time of

pandemic”

3. Which of the four (4) most employed types of research do you think should be
used to your topic? Why? Explain in not less than 100 words.

- The most employed type of research according to the title that I formulated
is the Qualitative research because it is used to understand how people
experience the world. It is also used to gain an understanding of
underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. Qualitative data can take
the form of texts, photos, videos and audio which I think best fit for my
research. For example, you might be working with interview transcripts,
survey responses, field notes, or recordings from natural settings. It
provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses
for potential quantitative research. Qualitative Research is also used to
uncover trends in thought and opinions, and dive deeper into the problem.

Another thing is that it relies on data obtained on first-hand observation,

interviews, questionnaires, focus groups, and participant-observation,
recordings made in natural settings, documents, and artifacts. The data
are generally non numerical.

For those more familiar with quantitative research techniques, the methods
used in qualitative research may, at first look, seem ineffective. However, it
is important to realize that qualitative research is not trying to answer the
same questions that are asked in quantitative research.

4. What are the parts of a thesis?

Explain what are to be found under each part. Same with action research?

PARTS OF ACTION RESEARCH

(1) identify a topic or issue to study

(2) collect data related to the chosen topic or issue
(3) analyze and interpret the collected data.
(4) carry out action planning, which represents the application of the action
research results.

5. Differentiate Action Research and Applied Research. How these research help our
educational transformation to attained quality education.

Action research is very useful in practitioners to help improve their practice. While
Applied research focuses on applying whatever knowledge is obtained via research
to solve some particular problem in one’s organization, arena of work, or in society at
large. It is the application of ideas. Another thing about Action research is
that it creates knowledge based on inquiries conducted within specific and often
practical contexts. As articulated earlier, the purpose of action research is to learn
through action that then leads on to personal or professional development. And also
it is use into school settings that has the benefits of action research in teaching,
learning, and also in curriculum from reflection on study of teaching, inquiry that lead
to actions that make a difference in teaching and learning. Action research
transformed also the relationship with students in which the research is applied.
