LETTER OF MOTIVATION

My name is Ivana. I graduated from Tarakanita I High School, Jakarta. Ever since I was in Grade
Eleven, I have always been interested in the study of human being especially in Biology. Becoming
a pharmacist is one of my dreams. Helping people to maintain their health, in my opinion, is a very
noble job. This passion grows bigger during the pandemic era when I saw many health
practitioners died because they didn’t know how to cope with Covid-19. From then on, I decided
that someday, I want to be in the group of people who help society coping with their diseases.
After obtaining my college degree, I plan to work in hospitals or clinical labs. When patients see
their doctors, they only solve half of their problems, because doctors only diagnose the symptoms
and prescribe medicines. But sometimes they do not take the medicine as prescribed. It is the job
of a pharmacist to educate the patients and make them realize the consequences of not taking the
medicine properly. In short, I will say that being in a community that help people maintain their
good health is rewarding.
To pursue my career goal, I need to take the field of study in pharmacy. There are several
universities that offer this program, and I chose IUP (International Undergraduate Program),
because this program has affiliated with a university abroad so I can have a chance of getting a
double degree, besides, I can also expand my network especially with students from outside of
Indonesia, and maintain my English competence. The last but not least, this program also offer
many international scholarship. With those benefits, I am more than willing to choose IUP as my
place to study.
As I mentioned earlier, being and integral part of the community who educate and maintain
peoples’ health and well-being is my long-term goal. Studying the development of medicine,
educating people about the benefits of taking medicine as prescribed as well as warning people
about the adverse effect of some strong medicine is one of my passions. I feel that I’m the right
person in this field of study, because I have big curiosity in learning new skills, I like reading
books that contain knowledge (I can spend hours reading) and I am a disciplined person. So I think
my personality suits me in this study.
I’m particularly interested in studying in UNAIR because it is one of the best national universities
in Indonesia. It ranks 4 based on QS World University Ranking. Aside from it, UNAIR also
provides a good and complete study facilities. I also got information that UNAIR has great alumni,
such as Ms. Chofifah Indar Parawansa (the governor of East Java), Ari Lasso (musician), Sukarwo
(ex-governor of East Java). IUP cooperates with many universities in Indonesia, and one of them
is UNAIR. This program offer a dual degree in cooperation with several international universities
like Kulliyah of Pharmacy in Malaysia, Melbourne Uiversity in Australia and King College
University.
Although I always want to know more about Indonesian’s companies whose line of business is
pharmacy, such as Prodia, I will accept any opportunities of visiting any companies or
organizations which this program offer me.
In conclusion, studying pharmacy is my ultimate goal and I chose IUP for its dual degree and the
chance of maintaining good English and network. I chose UNAIR because it is one of the best.
Besides, I want to live in different city from my parents and family so that I can learn to be more
independent. Thank you.
 LETTER OF PERSONAL STATEMENT

My name is Ivana Christabel Alicia Maukar. I studied in SMA TARAKANITA I (High School),
Jakarta. I graduated in May 2023. When I was in high school, I took science as my areas of interest.
My favorite is Biology.
Aside from academic activates, I took part in some extracurricular i.e. dancing club especially in
traditional dances. Sometimes, I also participated as a committee in school events.
If I were accepted in IUP, Pharmacy, it will be under my parent’s responsibity to pay the tuition
fees or other fees related to that.
So, I hope that by writing this, I can have a chance of studying in UNAIR.
